    Default Dale's textures aren't up to par with the rest of the mod

    At least in my opinion they're not. Everything else in this mod is beautifully detailed and the Dale textures look like they were just slapped on in a hurry.

    Yes we all know this. They where like Eriador, a last minute faction. Currently both Dale and Eriador are being remade by KK and DG.

    Eriador - completly new AOR focused roster. Made by DG the guy who made Rhun.

    Dale - Not so sure. Being made by KK.

    This is good news to me.

    I also had the same concerns with Eriador but forgot to bring them up.

    They can still be plenty fun to play though! If you can get past the looks you will realy enjoy the challange their campaigns give. Dale is easier to play because it has stronger and more available units on average.

    They were not a poorly planned last minute addition, OtMM roster was the one made in a slight hurry.
    Eriador and Dale were just not given a priority, the fact is that they are not as important as other factions and have basically no visual reference from the movies, even the easterlings had a brief appearance.

    Having that in to account I still think that playing as Dale is very rewarding.

    They were not done in a hurry, but I think the biggest mistake was letting a modeller who was a beginner at that time do the 2 hardest factions all by himself.

    i actually thought many of the unit concepts and a few of the actual units for Dale were quite good. Esgaroth Twon gGuard, Egaroth Knights, and Beornings were all great.

    I havent played Dale or Eriador yet mainly because they look so ugly(again no offence) compaired to the other factions like Rhun & Gondor etc. However once they get a makeover i will play them mainly because i think they are both intresting factions and ive always wanted to play as dale in a lord of the rings game.

    Wouldnt it suck if dale's units look COMPLETELY different than how the mod team made them, guess we're going to have to wait for it

    I must confess that I like some of the unit designs. I realize that every man from every unit may have the same beard as his countrymen, but the units themselves have a lot of variety. I particularly like:

    I don't think Dale's textures look bad at all, the only thing they're missing is the "movie" look, which they don't really need IMO, since they're pretty much a fictionary faction and haven't been described as well as say, Rohan.

    They're at least on par with other Medieval 2 mods, possibly even better. I agree that some of their weapons look a bit clunky (Dale Militia), but otherwise I've got no complaints, I even prefer the way some of the units turned out (e.g Bardian Archers, Esgaroth Town Guards, Northmen Cavalry and so on). Definitely not impossible to have an enjoyable campaign with them, unless you're a total graphics whore. Eriador's units are much worse IMO.

    Yup, those screenies pretty much prove my point. I hope the new redesign isn't going to scrap the earlier designs entirely, at least for those units which don't need it.
