Default Achtung! Empire Competition is no more!

I'm sorry guys, but I've realised that this just can't work. It's a close thing, but if I change the time from a month to a set hour(s) limit, (and I would have to), then cheating would simply be impossible to detect.

Unfortunately this competition has just bitten the dust - sorry to all who have tried, but I had to stop it now before you played even more of your campaigns

Oh, and the other reason is that there doesn't seem to be that many playing. I apologize again if people who have signed up are actually doing it, but it can't work anyway.

    Sorry

It's a good idea. But I lack any confidence in the honesty of the human species... There might be allot of cheating, maybe even with the more well known members...

Still not much of a deterrent, but ok. It's a really good idea now.

I'd decline to enter because of my habit of getting ill if I don't role play EVERYTHING, but I'm an ok judge maybe? I'm online enough anyway x3

This idea has potential i would be interested in taking part in the future when i get a laptop. I understand people cheating, a way to make sure they do not use the 'process_cq' cheat is to check whether it was possible to build the buildings as quick as that without the cheats.

Macedonia would be a decent start faction, and i ain't sure about the year to end in....

Interesting idea If I have some time to play I will probably join the competition. And be sure I would not be cheating
P.S. Macedonia? Hmm, I've never played them in campaign, it might be interesting though I don't like the phalanx.

I just thought that they don't start with a winning hand like the Romans or a piece of crap like Carthage, they're well balanced, they're central, but not surrounded (by dangerous people)... Any faction though.

I like the idea. Scoring could be done in such a way that cheating wouldn't really be beneficial.

For example, 1pt for every command star, management scroll, and 2pts for each laurel for all the family members and generals throughout the empire. 1pt for every win, negative 2pts for every loss. 1pt for every 2 settlements conquered. 1pt for each settlement with a population of 24000 or above (not just Huge Cities; a city could be "Huge" but be under 24k people, and hence not be counted). Etc.

i liek the idea, and i don't really worry about cheating- but there is one thing that is inherent in RS- it's almost impossible NOT to expand. I'll totally join up, though difficulty shoudl be standard for all.

Well you'd set everyone off and say 'right, greek cities, until 510 AUC, M/M difficulty, away you go and no cheating!'. And Benz, uh, with add_population and Process_cq people can still cheat there if they want to.

I know that cheating could not be prevented, but the point is that you'd have to be sad to do so.

Oh, and also Benz, I'm sorry but that would mean looking at EVERY chracter and EVERY city in their empire... and with many people's empires! I thought about 5 to 10 screenies from each person should do it to cover how big an empire is, and most of their cities. Or if that won't work for the cities, we'll just do the whole thing on who can capture the most territories, then use infrastructure etc. as a tie breaker if we need to.

all they need is a filefront account (its Free) and then you can upload files, just direct it to the save file in question and hey presto, then post the file just like you do with a picture. TA DAA

well we need rules 1st: time frame, faction also i think we would need to decide rules for armies composition, max amount archers/cavalry, do we retrain units or not.

Whoooah , that sounds like you are about to make it too stringent, if you make too many rules no one will want to take part.

    Timeframe
    Faction
    No cheating
    No army without a Commander/General.
    Abide by house rules
at the end post pictures of your empire, the faction screen , and a save game file.

You cant really enforce anything else.

But the final say should be for Son of Alexander after all it was his idea

Haha I rule supreme! I shall found a city named SonOfAlexandria in my own honour, haha!!

You're right Pullo, there's not too many nessecary criteria. I think this is a definitive list: (btw, I won't use Filefront, as it doesn't work. Not only does it fail for me, but for lots of others too, and I wouldn't want to prevent thm from entering) Anyway after those long brackets, here's the list:

. Time limit for entries of each contest of 1 month
    . Timeframe - Until 515AUC
. Faction - I might as well persist with starting as Macedonia in the first contest
. No cheating - you know my opinion on that
. No army without a general, UNLESS they're beind lines and being sent for retraining (that way they can't just 'forget' about generals and cheat)
. I don't think other house rules are nessecary - e.g., The bit about troop ships never applies, as I sink them on principal that they're the enemy and I can, etc. I think the 'need a general' one is the only one we need, and if we sat there before expanding that would be impossible to 'enforce' as well as making people play for way too long in a month. If I've forgotten the important relevant house rules, then point them out please

P.S. I will need some more entrants, and then maybe to get a mod to sticky the thread. I will need judges to help scrutinise for cheats and to judge if we have a tie
