    Default General Units in 1.2

    Hey all
    i was wondering if any of you think the General's bodyguard units should go back to their original power (ie. gain another hit point).

    Im suggesting either increasing the size to the normal unit size (on huge scale, 75 for cavalry, 150-200 for infantry).

    I just recently downloaded 1.2 and this was one thing i did not like, what are your opinions?

    I both like and dislike the new general units.

    I like that they only have one hit point just like any other soldier, but I do think that if they are only going to have one hit point, then they should have a full sized unit of bodyguards.

    On the other hand (arguing against myself here) General Units are very strong early in the game. Having a full sized unit (especially with nations that get LOTS of generals) you could have a bit of an unbalanced effect on the game.

    For example: Rohan vs. Isengard.

    Rohan gets TONS of generals (even starts with a large number) where Isengard only starts the game with three or four (can't remember exactly). Then Rohan gets at least two more fairly quickly (from marriages to Thengel's daughters) and many more Adoptions as well.

    Looking at Mordor, I can only imagine how nasty they would be with their Nazgul Bodygaurds and numerous Orc Generals.

    I'm kind of at odds with myself even.

    In a certain light it's much better having mortal Leaders{in TTA 1.2} instead of the 2 Hit Point Titans we had in TTA 1.1. It's much more challenging having to be cautious where, when, & how you commit your Leadership.

    I agree

    Before I used to charge my generals into anything They were immortal...
    I still use them to turn battles of course, but I don't charge them into anything anymore

    I like it better i think.... except when I forget XD and charge them in hehehe

    I like new generals their are not undefeatable anymore
    In 1.1 you can easy rape a few stakes of mordor with 10 generals...Gondor get always so many generals

    uh? in 1.2 they only have 1hitpoint¿ i didnt notice as gondor lol

    i keep charging with them the same than always

    They are still to strong, but in a Hotseat Game (a Friend with Isengard and iam with the OotmM) everathing is perfect.
    And why, easy, because our Generals are all on Foot, so it would be Perfect for the Balance, when all General Units were on Foot.
    On the other Side, why on Earth would a Rohan General Fight on Foot ? =)
    But hey, it is a GAME, so in a Game balance goes over everething else.

    So here goes my Vote! No more General Cav Troops anymore! =)

    Do Generals themselves still have multiple hitpoints, or do they have a base of 1 now as well?

    In terms of early game balance I can see a lot of sense in reducing the HPs of bodyguard units, but 1 HP for a general (excluding VnVs) feels a little weak for my taste.

    Not to mention that it would make the "BattleScarred" line of traits harder to pick up in-game. So far as I can tell, the trigger condition for the first trait "Marks of War" is the general taking more than 30% of their total hits in a battle; If they now only have 1HP base, (& aren't generated with some other trait that adds HP,) there's no way they can ever pick up Marks of War, since any damage would kill them.
