How to get more units in a card?

I saw a thread a while ago about how to get more units in a card like 280 or 380 or 500, 600, 1000 or more, etc.... But I can't find it anymore. I believe to get it you had to edit some numbers in the game files. Can anyone link me to the thread...

Also will I be able to max out the game in Ultra graphics with these specs:

AMD Phenom II 4X - 3.2GHz
ATI Sapphire Radeon 4890HD 1GB DDR5
6GB DDR3 RAM
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit

Hey Metz, welcome to twc!

If you just want massive battles with tons of troops, I'd recommend just using Darthmod Commander Edition. It multiplies all the unit sizes so battles are huge!

If you're wanting to edit individual units, then you need to go into some of the patch.pack files. It should be either the units table or the units stats table. I'm not sure about an exact tutorial, but if you head over to the Empire mod workshop tools and tutorials section, there's several involving creating or editing units and unit stats that could help you out.

Before actually messing with game files, I'd strongly recommend reading the how to make a mod tutorial and using the sample mod pack. Most of ETW modding involves creating new packs that override/add to the release packs, so if there's a problem with mod incompatability you just remove the mod pack and don't have to wait a few hours to reinstall Empire's core game files.

As for your system, I'm not any sort of expert on ATI or AMD, but your system looks like it's very powerful and I don't think you'll have much of a problem with Ultra.

How come it goes under textures and models? I think it should be pinned in the Mod section (It can be considered somewhat modding since your editing the file) or pinned here.
