It is not difficult but complicated process. Best answered in these links:

Let me know if you can get it to work.

Yeah that process seems similar to the RTW way of adding units and i didn't have any luck with that.
    Plus rep anyway.

Seeing as that is out of the question if i delete a trait entry out of the trait file, is that trait gone for good or is there something i have to delete also.
    Cheers in advance.

I normally just remove the triggers not full trait information as without triggers they won't fire.

That sounds like something i need to do. Care to tell us how to do it.
Also could i do the same for supply traits.
    Cheers in advance.

EDIT: also while im at could you possibly tell us how to make it so my generals live till like 80 years old.
    +rep for good answers.
    Before editing.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Trigger SupplyStart
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnStart

    Condition IsGeneral
    and CharacterIsLocal
    and Trait Supplies < 1

    Affects Supplies 1 Chance 100

;give supplies at start of turn to all local gens
;rest of triggers only reduce in enemy land and only add in home settlement, not land.

If i did that would it remove the supply traits.

I think you can easily just remove the whole section (= what you quoted)
Also there are already some tips on removing the supply traits around at least
one discussion about that was in the RR1.3/RC1.8/CBUR/BFTB/BGR IV Compilation topic

What SS version are you using?
Did your game CTD after trying a new campaign or after loading a save and ending turn?

Hm. I think characters defined in the starting conditions of your campaign might already have supply traits and this might lead to the crash.
