If there is anything I find lacking in mods that tries to improve the AI based on our trial and error methods, it's the fact that we didn't try and write down how the AI of RTW thinks.
Trying to understand how the AI thinks and creating a set of guideline for people to follow would greatly help in creating an a mod that have a better functional AI than vanilla RTW.
The problem I think that exist with RTW's AI is the fact CA is adding alot of features that affects the AI's performance in a negative way.
One example would be how AI would refuse peace with you from time to time, and keep trying to invade certain cities is due to the fact that CA create a set of winning conditions for the AI, even though the AI don't need those winning conditions to function.
A player needs a set of winning condition because he needs to win the game, and creates an endpoint for the game. Trying to make your nation last for eternity won't be a fun game to play. Whereas the point of an AI existing is not to win the game and to be most powerful nation in Europe.
The AI goal is to simply survive in the game, and being a superpower is an additional benefit, not a necessarily.
I hope to create a list of features that is affecting the AI in a negative manner and seek to remove those features.
Even if the mod would become a more watered down version of the game, at the least the AI would start to make more sense in their behaviour and action.
