Default Problem Installing Kingdoms Patch 1.5

When I try to install kingdoms patch 1.5, I get an error saying:

Error: Invalid or missing target C:\Program Files\Sega\MTW2\mods\americas\packs\localized.pack

I haven't touched the game files in any way besides copying the music file and converting it to mp3 so I can listen to it. I have checked and I have the localized.pack file in the right directory. Any ideas to help? It happens for all the campaigns.

Number one is it has to be totally clean. No fooling with even the music. Everything is time/date/version/language stamped. They don't match, you don't update.
Number two is it has to match exactly the Kingdoms version you have: gold,non-gold; dvd, download; UK, US, Euro, etc. This thing does not mix and march and the localized pack will get you every time.

Uninstall and reinstall the game and try to patch it. If you get the localized error, again, you downloaded the wrong patch.

Well, my first post is about a big problem. Because this thread is about patch 1.5, I think I can probably paste my problem here.
I updated Kingdoms to version 1.5 for the Custom Campaign mod 2, but I didn't use the Gold Edition patch for Europe, and now everytime I want to play one of the new campaigns, or a mod for Kingdoms, for example Third Age Total War, I get an error that de original Kingdoms disc is missing and that I need to insert it. But because I have the Gold Edition, I don't have that disc. I would like to reinstall the game, but when I first installed it, it forced me to have 14 GB free on my C: disk, which I haven't, even though I wanted to install it on my D: partition. After a workaround, using another computer, I eventually got it installed on my computer. But now my question, is there anyway I can revert back to 1.4 without removing the game, and then install it again?

The answer is no. An uninstaller for that was never made.

The bad news is if you want to play this game, you install and play it CA and Sega's way. That means minimum c: drive disc space and it doesn't make any difference whether here on Earth on in another galaxy. The 1.5 patch is also very version and language specific.

Aah, too bad. Then I'll need to wait on my new computer, and then reinstall it. Thanks for your help

Thanks. Since I live in the US and I don't have gold edition, I'd need the US dvdrom non gold patch?
Out of curiosity, why would simply copying the music files cause the update to not work? I didn't actualy remove or change anything.

Actually it shouldn't have any effect whatsoever as long as you don't change/move the files in question. Just copying them to run through a MP3 file converter shouldn't have an effect.

I'm guessing that you didn't get the correct patch the first time or that you had a download problem with the patch the first time around. Just follow irishron's advice about the patch and all should be well.

In addition to what irishron said, I tried downloading the patch from a different site, and that worked for me (it suggested it on a thread somewhere this forum). Find which version you have, and keep trying different sites until it works:

    Hope it helps!

Ok, so I followed a download link to kingdoms gold version US patch 1.5, downloaded it, but now I'm confused. It's in rar format, so I run my file unzipper, but I don't know what to do next. Is there some installer for this? Do I need to unzip this somewhere?

Find where you unzipped it and run the setup.exe in it.

You can download the free version of Winrar here.

So that's it? Unzip anywhere, and run the installer?

The 1.5 patch will find your Medieval2 and Kingdoms install in the registry. You can run it from your desktop. I have.

I understand the 1.5 patch version--US/UK--has to match the Gold version, but I have no idea whether the Gold is US or UK. How can I find out? It is English, purchased from Hong Kong through eBay.
    Thanks.

Your guess is as good as mine, then. I'd try UK first since Hong Kong was under their rule for 99 years.

The dealer confirmed it was a UK version. Naturally, that didn't help. I've tried applying TW_GOLD_Kingdoms_Patch_UK.rar and still get the "Wrong disc" error. (I also tried un- and re-installing, then the US patch, just in case. Of course, it didn't work either.) I would have thought by now that this old problem would have found an old solution. Apparently not.
Can you help? Windows XP, SP3. Both Medieval II and Kingdoms work until I attempt to apply the patch. Then M2 will still work, but Kingdoms produces the error.

    XP is a good.

After patching with the UK version, try setting the game to "Run as Administrator"? The patch can be a pain.

I'm having a problem with installing the patch. I have downloaded the correct version, downloaded it correctly and it is unzipped, but every time I double click the setup a window pops up asking if I want to open it regularly or as an archive. I then choose to open it normally and it then goes to start the setup, asking if I want this program to make changes on my computer, I click yes, and then nothing happens. The screen goes back to my desktop. Can anyone help me with this?
