Startpos.esf editing and Diplomacy
I have had some concerns about how the Diplomatic AI works in ETW, and I think I've discovered that editing campaign territory goals also helps with diplomacy.
Using the ESFEditor to change or remove "must have for victory" territories from various Major nations, it seems that the Diplomatic AI becomes less demanding and more reasonable. For example, Vanilla is scripted so that Prussia must have the territory of Austria to win any campaign, while Austria must have the territory of West-Pomerania (Brandenburg) to win. By removing (or changing) this and any other victory condition that puts Austria and Prussia in conflict I find that the at-start diplomatic relations eventually improve, and the deals are much easier to negotiate.
The same occurred between Poland and Prussia when I removed the territory of Poland from Prussia's victory conditions, and the territory of west-Prussia from Poland's victory conditions.
It seems that as long as there are critical "must have" territory victory conditions between nations then the diplomatic status between nations deteriorates at a constant rate, and the Diplomatic AI will act in an unreasonably demanding manner.
Anyone else who made such changes notice the difference?
Thanks JUST for the editor, it works great. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=242353
