Thread: No 'Welcome Message'.

    Default No 'Welcome Message'.

    Basically, i've re-installed the game like 5 times (V1.2), but every time i start a campaign, the 'welcome to middle-earth' message does not appear.
    I know that if the message does not appear then the scripts do not work and that means i won't get the advanced units later in game. I'm stumped and have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

    Reinstall MTW2 and Kingdoms, then the TATW sub-mod, then patch 1.1, then the hotfix, then patch 1.2.

    And remove every submod and additional files in those maps.

    Urgh. Didn't think i'd have to resort to a full reinstallation. Ah well, tomorrow then. Too tire today. Thanks for the help you two.

    take a look at your campaign script , and search for this (you might have to search twice , dunno exactly) :

    ;########################## WELCOME TEXT ##############################

    (you must have that lin exactly ..)

    Normally , when you find it , it should say this :

    I am experiencing the same problem here, I never got the welcome message. I tried reinstall M2:TW and than full Kingdoms installation, than TA:TW part 1 & 2, patch 1.1 and patch 1.2 and it still doesnt gives me the message. I didnt install the hotfix because I heard it is included in one of the patches ( not the newest hotfix, the one before that). I checked now the campaign_script.txt and I have the same script as KingTheoden1 posted in the exact same words. Any Ideas?

    I dont get the welcome message either, I used to have it in 1.0 but after that it was gone.

    What does the log say ?

    And check the bottom of descr_strat , it should say :

    campaign_script.txt

    Yeh, it does that in the desrc_strat file. How do you want me to post the two files by the way? I don't know how to be honest.

    Go to Medieval Total War II/logs , and open system.log with notepad

    Then just copy-paste it's content in spoiler and code tags here

    There. Just to let you know, i was using the Immortal Nazgul Mod V1.2 and it was working fine previously but now everything is screwed up for some reason.

    First of all , i suggest you contact the creator of the submod , as those errors shouldn't be there .. And does your script actually work ? Try sieging Isengard or Helm's Deep or so , and see if there are extra dudes when the city is besieged

    And btw , i thought that submod was already in v1.2 of TATW ?

    Well with the last bit, i'm pretty sure its not. It might be included and the Nazgul might be immortal, but there's only 3 of them. The Witch King, the one in Minas Morgul, and the one in Dol Guldor. With the sub-mod, you get all 9 Nazgul which is why i used it. It was working before though and everything went fine until i screwed up some editing.

    No Nazgul are not immortal and the submod is also not included

    It's an error in the Immortal Nazgul mod... those missing traits and ancs are all from there, basically you need the vanilla campaign_script, and nothing else, I think.

    you could try to set the barracks script to turn 1-2 and check if it works even without message...

    For me there is nothing in the log, and descr_strat.txt does have does lines in it's end.
