    Default The pelgarir malrines (gondor) have terrible AI

    Hey everyone

    So I am playing my campaign as gondor makign full use of the javelin throwers of pelgarir malrines (not sure on spelling)

    Now I have had problems with these guys before, in that they will throw one volley of javelins, and then just sit pretty, even though auto fire is on and they have plenty of ammo.

    ok not too much to worry about.... but what does get to me is when trolls come into the picture.

    When they are storming my city, (I like to put 3 units of spearmen around the entrance to keep the enemy piled up under the gate (where the oil takes care of them) I then have around 3 units of PM throwing javelins into the mixer when all the enemy is bunched up.) But with the trolls, firstly for some reason, the PM don't seem to want to fire at the trolls. even though they are the fist unit in, the PM sill fire at the units behind the trolls, and completely miss them!

    Not only this, but the issue of them not fire at all comes into play, and the issue mentioned before about them throwing one volley and then they do nothing seriously hinders things.

    ... sorry for bad english writing but em im tired.

    Anyone else think they are bad at this?

    I have also noticed this and it is indeed annoying. You usualy have to manualy order them to fire again and this doesent work all the time. For trolls you have to tell them to attack the trolls.

    I'm 75% that the pelargir marines are like the Roman soldiers in rome total war, in that they throw a volley of javelins and then go to fight in melee.

    Sometimes they get a bit shy on autofire when shooting over the top of other troops, you need to take off autofire and manually target. Also they have the same problem as archers when stacked on top of each other, only a few will fire at each time rather than the full squad.

    If you have 6 units, try 1 behind each flank spearman unit and 1 behind the front spearman unit, then move those units back and rotate the fresh units forward once they exhaust their javelins, that way you get a full squads worth of javelins each time they attack, which is really devastating

    I use mounted javelin troops when using other factions in the same way on siege D, they seem to handle shooting over the troops a bit better than foot javelin units, but they are also a bit of a liability with archers behind them because they are taller

    I had this problmen that when i manually ordered them to throw javelins , they just walked towards their target , and started fighting -_-"

    They will only throw one volley of spears when they're placed on the walls, after that even ordering them to throw won't work.

    All javelinears in the M2TW engine have scimilar problem...
    What you must do is to order them to throw their javelings in medium range (not to close to the walls or in a big angle right or left of them)...
    I had a scimilar problem with CBUR's javelinears but after some experiments a came to this...
    TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
    Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

    IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
    Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.

    Ok good stuff guys I will select them and make them fire on the trolls.... although sometimes like someone said, they just walk towards and attack them o.0

    Also I use fountain guard spearmen to keep them in on place. This is because the whole army coems through the gates, and are all packed togther........ then I let the oil do it's work and totally destroy their army. Imagine 10 units all huddled up together, and then oil coming down

    IO think in one match I killed around 2000 people using oil (i added and worked it out)
