    Default Huge Unit Sizes

    Hi All

    I'm just in the process of downloading TATW, but I was wondering whether there was a way to 1.) increase the unit size and 2.) would you recommend it. I'm saying this because I want to get an epic feel from this mod and I feel that larger armies would be the way to go.

    Also, does TATW have the actual city/town models changed to fit certain areas in the films, for example, Minas Tirith

    i'm sure that u can make the units bigger, thus i dunno how... and the game do not have the custom cities YET it'll have later(maybe months dunno) but there are many other threads about this... so i think they'll close this one

    Well it says on the TATW download thread (under 1.2 changelog) that a "unique buildings" mod has been added? what does that mean?

    In Minas Tith (for example) there is (already built) the Great Gate (I think) or in Moria is the Chamber of Marzabul and Bridge of Kazadum which increases trade. They are just for the campaign map not in campaign battles im afraid.

    i'm new to the mod but i'm pretty sure the units are bigger than vanilla at the same settings . I started on huge and turned it down to large as i just find on huge it doesnt work well with cities and sieges . As the orcs even on large setting it seems like its still on huge

    That there are 'unique' buildings on the strat map. The Battle map is not alterd.
    1.) increase the unit size
    The mod starts out with huge units settings, 250 orcs, 250 uruk-hai.

    How hard is it to make unique cities on the battle maps. How would they get the walls the right heights and stuff?

    they would have to start making the orcish style buildings, and thats a lot of work

    i heard they started working on isengard and helm's deep, but thats a lot and i mean A LOT of work...
    this mod is young, and if their developers keep working on this, it might turn a revolutionary mod, as it combines the famous LOTR with the Medieval 2 engine, and those custom maps are all that are missing, to make this a compelte new game

    i would say this is somewhat 75% new game, with the custom buildings, it would become 95% new game, the rest of the 5% would be a larger map and a few more factions (something like Divie and conquer for TATW did) and a few unique units, and some rebalance...

    this would become like counter strike did, most people dont even now CS is a mod of half-life, most don't even know half-life exists, almost the same would happen with this mod

    The problem with custom cities isn't the fact that they'd have to actually make those buildings. No, KK and his team could easily do that in a month or so.
    The problem is that no one really knows how to put those models into the game. I'm not really into that, but I've seen some topics on it. Some guy could do really crazy stuff, but I still yet have to see a true (decently working) custom city.

    And I believe you can't make the unit sizes even larger. If a unit had more than 250 soldiers M2 was going nuts or something. And larger units isn't really practical either, since they'll get scattered easier and you can't fit them on walls anymore.

    250 per unit is the maximum for Total War games, right?

    I read this a few years ago in a Rome: Total War article. I think this rule is for any Total War-game, not just Rome.

    Then why in battle editor battles does the game make the number of soldiers per unit 150 when you had it set to 200 or something?
