    Default VH battle difficulty

    So what exactly does it do, except giving the enemy a big morale boost? At least in vannila.

    Good question. Things I know:

    • morale boost
    • AI: in stead of charging you head on, the enemy surrounds you when possible.
    • AI: when you attack, the enemy doesn't simply sit back. When vulnerable troops are too far in front, the AI is quick to send some cavalry in.
    • (not sure about this one) Enemy cavalry makes far better use of the charge effect - retreat, charge, retreat, charge, ...

    i see this even if u play in easy battle mode, and same in VH, and it uses mostly generals, and they are deadly doing this, well more of a pain in the "the-one-u-know", since it causes more unecessary casualties...

    Wait, doesn't VH battle difficulty just give insane attack and defense bonuses to AI?

    No that is only in RTW and ETW. In campaign it makes the AI factions hate you. Each turn you will lose reputation with them and it also gives them 10000 florins.

    As far as i know this isnt true , the difficulty settings doesn't improve the AI at all , in battles it just makes there troops tougher .

    Lol I read this a while ago on a renowned gaming site, don't remember the name. If this indeed isn't true, that would be a shame

    Personally, I prefer hard campaign difficulty over hard battle difficulty

    its a piece of piss anyway. The games not very challenging more or less every battle i play is a reinactment of agincourt

    For battle difficulty, it's just morale bonuses. Same AI is used at all battle difficulties.

    ... so basically the AI gets to cheat? thats lame


    Each event is proceeded by prophecy, but without the hero there is no event...

    Well, if it is cheating...then it sucks at cheating even!

    It is still seemingly too easy to route an enemy unit simply by engaging it in the front and then hitting it in the side.

    What I have noticed is a lot of enemy units "fight to the death" now instead of routing. Even then they die very quickly though.

    exactly. It's pretty anoying when enemies are shaken even before they get close enough to fight melee. They are acting very cowardly
    Yea I know the name is terrible, but it's not really finished.

    That means you have surrounded them too much. you should give them space so they CAN run.
