PS3: HMDI vs SCART

Hello folks

I've been playing on my PS3 with a SCART cable ever since I bought it. Now, recently my brother bought himself a Panasonic Viera (1080p) so I hooked up my PS3 to it but was quite disappointed by the quality, I was still using the SCART btw.. now my question is: Is there a big difference in graphics using a SCART or HDMI? Thanks

Godfrey, I was using a scart before and my dad got a gold plated HDMI and it is sooooo much clearer and sharper. It also makes you notic the small differences especially in FIFA.

Do it Godfrey, only thing is it will take a couple seconds to recognize it but it is worth it.

Remember though, you have to go to display settings and set it to use HDMI/1080p, otherwise it will still display whatever you were using before, which if it's SCART, I'm pretty sure it would be 480i/480p. Big difference between that and 1080p, so you just have to set it. SCART won't display HD BTW.

The only way I could justify using a scart to join a PS3 and a HDTV is if there is nothing else available. Otherwise it would be like trying to use cartwheels on a Ferrari. Could work, but you lose so much power, it isn't really worth it.

You can get HDMI cable for dirt cheap these days online...I say go for it, it won't cost you much, and it certainly is a big improvement in quality.

Just make sure that you buy a reasonably priced one. By reasonably priced, I mean like $10 for 6 feet MAX. I'll repeat, MAX. Companies overcharge for HDMI cables touting better quality. While that may matter for analog cables, a digital cable, such as HDMI, either works or doesn't work.
