Pesky 1605 error

I am having severe loading time problems with Ashes 2009 running under Win 7, but under XP, the loading times are almost non existent (but the game runs too slowly; it runs beautifully under Win 7). I am pretty sure that the only reason this is happening is because it wasn't installed under Win 7, but when I try to install it under Win 7, it gives me the 1605 error 'only for installed software' or similar message. Can someone show me how to sort this out? I've heard there's a hidden file left around somewhere that's causing this; can anyone tell me where it is? I've tried running CCleaner and the Windows Installer Cleanup, but no joy and these loading times in Ashes 2009 are doing my head in.

The game probably isn't patched for Windows 7 only Vista and XP so you should expect problems when trying to run your old software on new operating systems. Have a read of this.
