    Default Still having issues

OK my previous post was closed as it was implyed that i hadnt gone thru the forums with my issue, when i stated quite clearly at the beginning that i had.

Some kind people offered a solution whereas i changed the target line.

I tried this and every other solution, gone thru the FAQ's and still no joy. I have even removed the UAC control to see if that made a diff but no.

I loved 6.4 and wanna play this version but seem unable to get anywhere. Runnin on vista hoome premium.

If there happens to be a thread that i have missed (even when using the 'search forum' option, please could you provide linkage instead of closing thread???? as i have honestly read these forums till my eyes bled but nothing on help with vista can be found as 6.4 worked fine on XP.

many thanks for any and all help.

I have recently changed to VISTA. I believe THAT is most probably your issue but it should be possible to tackle. There should be a thread here somewhere in which we discussed running SPQR on VISTA.

Have you installed it under program folder or did you save it directly under C? You should install directly under C and not let the computer do it under program folder.

Another thing, some time ago there were some problems with filefroint and corrutped files as a result. Try downloading the mod again and follow the readme to the letter (but install directly to C instead of program folder)

Had to research a lot before I installed SPQR on the new rig with VISTA and SPQR is running like a charm for me.

I have just downloaded the mod and played it twice on different settings, I defeated hannibal first time, but then my meagre forces that survived were wiped out by the next stack of carthaginians, then when i try to play again i get the load screen then it just flicks back to desktop.

Did you quit the game inbetween this? If you are running the game and loading a new game after already have started/loaded another game it might cause CTDs...
Solution: Only load after you have exited and restarted the game!

Edit: And this is because of the script I believe

Are you using Vista or XP? Try updating your video drivers.

i have installed 7.0 on my cpu upstairs which is on xp. it works fine but everytime a general dies on the battlefield it crashes my entire system (which i think has had its day now...). would it work if i networked the two cpus together and just port the entire game on desktop to my laptop? would this work?

This confirms to me that the runin of the mod is an issue somewhere with vista although other state that the mod runs fine on thier vista. why does this always happen to me...?

More cpus wont help. Reinstall and try again it just happens. Or pick another general and see from there. There are known issues regarding specific units from time to time that cause crashing.
