    Default [EU3] Eu3 Succession Game?

This topic will be used to discuss the Neapolitan succession game that we are carrying out.

    Please post AAR's here

For anyone that doesn't know, a succession game is where one person plays the first monarch of a game, and once that monarch dies, he saves the game and sends the save file to another person to play the next monarch etc etc.

Each player play ONE monarch. When he dies, he immediatly saves. He then writes a AAR for his reign, post it in the AAR post in the forumsand send the savegame to the next player by any way.

If you're the next player on the list, you have 24H to manifest yourself when the previous player finishes, and 72H to post the next savegame and AAR. If you miss, you ll be skipped.

Please don't cheat. Please don't reload. Please don't reload, especially if things go badly or if you die early. That's what make a succession game fun : crisis. We are not here to judge whether you're a good player or not, it's not a competition. We're here to have fun. Actually, bad players are encouraged to come, historically not all leaders had read the MM1.5 rulebook .

If there is no ruler (regency), a player who have already played - of your choice - will take over until the new heir is old enough.

Please don't suicide your nation (DoW Ottoman empire with no army).

Please don't change governemt type to one who uses an election system or short reigns.

The followings things are considered exploits and forbidden :

    - DoW a small country in order to wage war against a larger one without having to fight the allies of this larger foe.

    - DoW a vassal, even if you have a CB on him and not his master.

    - DoW a far away country to clear your warnings

    - DoW a far away country allied to an enemy you made peace with in order to wage war against that country again without the stab hit

    - Any unfair way to avoid the consequence of a DoW or to avoid fighting the allies of your real target.

Generally speaking, only DoW neighbours, or country to which it makes logical sense.

Also, please don't use the AI weakness with straits. If you control the fleet with a massive fleet - fine. If you send just one ship to interrupt the crossing than call the ship back when the enemy send his fleet, then interrupt again when the enemy call his ship back, and so on, to block OE or Sweden - that's an exploit.

Finally, don't change NI as it has massive consequence over the following players if you die early, ruining their fun.

Changing to a Republic would be one of the things you wouldn't be allowed to do obviously. And if your king dies in half a year, well, thats tough.

what about if you form a republic people on the board vote for who becomes president (or whatever) and that person takes the game?

Analysis should not be diverted by reflections upon the zeal with which the victors at the end of the Second World War punished the defeated for war crimes. The victors were animated by the ideals of the Atlantic Charter and of the United Nations. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was about to peep over the eastern horizon. But first, they wanted a little hanging.

Or we just hand it off every so often.

I am up for it though, what country would we play as?

    I say England.

Well, I don't think a republic would be a very good idea. Forum members are only gonna vote for the best player, and apart from this completely slowing down the process, it loses the point of a succession game in that only the good players are gonna get a chance to play.

Also a Monarchy or similar type works so much better in that you get the length of someones life, which can vary, rather than a vote every 4 years or so. Imagine how long the game would take if every four years we had to wait for everyone to vote on who to play next.

Need to get a few more players before we decide on country or anything like that, but England would be an interesting choice in that it allows colonisation, and can get involved in Europe.

I might be up for it depending on the nation and the rules. Personally I'd rather it be a more moderate power rather then one of the big boys though, much more challenging and exciting plus there is a possibility for each player to leave a much longer lasting impact on the game in the end, weather it's positive or negative.

I agree with Cougar on the moderate power would be better.

Thats actually what I had in mind as well, either like a German minor or somewhere completely different so that with each new leader you can notice a change in ideas. With someone like GB I see it as being focused more on colinisation, which is what everyone would then do.

But please let me know if you'd be up for this then we can get together and decide on a country.

I say either England or Burgandy.

If we go England I say we take a vow that there should be as much effort as possible focused towards Taking French Lands.

England is a tad easy. don't you think?

I think Naples or, depending on how many skilled players we have here, the Byzantine Empire would be the best candidates.

    But that's just me

The Byzantines would be a great choice I think if we could pull of the starting game. I'm in the middle of a Naples > Italy game atm, it's quite fun too and theres lots of different places to focus on.

Can I assume that those posting in this thread are actually interested in playing?

Does that mean your up for playing? After we get a list of those playing, we can have a poll or something with all the suggested countries.

Why don't you get ahead and start listing people who are willing to do this in the original post so we've got an idea how many are here along with some basic rules. As for nations, I'd love to give it a go with Naples. Nice moderate power that has a ton of options and possibilities.
