    Default For the Glory

For the Glory is a game in the Europa Universalis series, based on EU2 and the famous user modification AGCEEP.

Take up the reigns of your country, guide domestic and foreign policy, navigate thousands of historical events, engage in various struggles and lead your country to prosperity – all in the name of glory!
For the Glory offers full historical immersion, with a completely new in-depth
experience with over 10000 historically accurate events.
Take charge of the mighty Habsburg Empire, the aggressive Swedish state, or the seafaring Portuguese. Build up your empire through trade, diplomacy,
colonialism and war. Interact with real historical events and persons to determine what path your nation will take. Nothing is written in stone, and while a wise leader may choose to follow the path of history, you may also take advantage of opportunities for
    change.

    Features
    • You can play as over 180 countries, on a map covering the entire world, in the
    era spanning 1419-1819
    • Experience unparalleled historical immersion with over 10000 historical events.
    • Unparalleled mod-ability: unlimited timeframe and up to 1000 counties.
    • Improved and modernised interface.
    • Adapt your playing style to the personality of your nation’s various historical
    monarchs.

This is great and all but where does it fit in the timeframe scheme? Is this supposed to be a standalone game opposite EUIII?

My concern is they might start spreading themselves to thin. I'm fine with the 4 "main games" they have in the series right now(CK->EU->Vicky->HOI). Rome was kind of a bust(I've heard it's better now but the scope still sounds utterly unappealing), I'm keen on one more update to EUIII but personally I want an EUIV not more offshoots!

For the glory is not made by Paradox but by some fans, Paradox released their EUII engine and this will be the first game using it. Paradox decided to go all out and even make box versions of this game, apperently this game will remove a lot of limitations that EUII had (no more nation's cap) so modders can go all out on this game.. And there are probaly some neat new features.

indeed, the source code is being used by the same people who made the AGCEEP mod, the intention is getting rid of most of the limitations that EUII forces on you, as well as building a decent campaign.

although i don't know for sure, it probably wont be as event heavy as AGCEEP (that would be daft as they have said that they will convert AGCEEP at a later time)

So how will this be different from AGCEEP?
It contains other mods than agceep, plus they have full access to the code rather than everything being hardcoded so they have done a LOT more with the game engine to support additional features in that mod. Overall, if you play AGCEEP you should get this.

In fact if you like any Paradox game you should get this game as EU2 was awesome and this is a vast improvement on that, also AGCEEP is the best mod for any paradox game. It makes MM look like childsplay.

it probably wont be as event heavy as AGCEEP
Full featured AGCEEP comes with the release, including a version with an alternate earlier start.

What is the difference with EU 2 or 3 I wonder ?
It looks like EU to me . A mod?
Fitz Salnarville, Duke William's favourite knyghte,
    To noble Edelwarde his life dyd yielde;
Withe hys tylte launce hee stroke with thilk a myghte,
The Norman's bowels steemde upon the feeld.
Old Salnarville beheld hys son lie ded, 235
    Against Erie Edelward his bowe-strynge drewe;
    But Harold at one blowe made tweine his head;
He dy'd before the poignant arrowe flew.
So was the hope of all the issue gone,
And in one battle fell the sire and son
    .

Was wrong about this earlier start.

AGCEEP is included and its awesome still though.
Hmm. Anyone that buys this, can you tell us the pro's and cons?
Yes, you shall be our guinea pig!
I got it, i'll "review" it for you I guess. I'll base it on if you are an EU3 player.

    Pros:
This game is practically EU2 except with additional features, if you do not have EU2 buy it.
AGCEEP's future releases are coming for this.
Almost story driven historical events with multiple event chains.
AGCEEP is probably the most worked out mod with the most events in any Paradox game.
    Lots of improvements from EU2:
New game creation features, historical/random event choices for AI for example
    You can set your resolution.
Vastly improved interface from EU2, includes most of the map modes that were added in EU3.
    Vastly improved modding capabilities
Far more historically accurate in every respect when compared to EU3 or any mod, if you play agceep.
Large number of events for most nations.
    Decisive combat.
Ahistorical events, and event chains, for most major nations in all areas of the world. Christian Daimyo wins Sengoku Jidai? Byzantine Empire beats the ottomans? Stuarts stay english monarchs? Win 100 years war? Portugan/Spain claims eachothers crown and unifies Iberia? Form italy as any northern italian nation? Etc.
    Cons:
Short lived nations do not have many events.
Most nations do not have events after they historically died out unless they are popular (byzantines, grenada, mughal)
Random events are lacking compared to EU3 as this game is not as dynamic.
Smaller map with far less provinces than EU3.

Overall if you never played EU2 you probably should buy this for AGCEEP alone, if you are an EU2 player i'm assuming future versions of agceep will be exclusive for this however this currently just has the current one that is out for EU2 so you can probably hold off on it until more interesting mods come out for it. This game is basically what Paradox would of included in a major expansion to EU2 and since EU2 is a different enough game from EU3 its worth playing the previous game in this series if you havn't.

edit: If you buy this and play the agceep play as England, they were the first nation i played in that and were probably the most fun of any other than portugal.
