Default [EU3] EU3: Heir to the Throne

Requested by the fans, Heir to the Throne is the third expansion to the
preeminent historical strategy game Europa Universalis III. The expansion takes the hugely successful game beyond complete, with improvements across the board:

    Features
    • Intriguing Casus Belli system, where wars have specific goals from start to finish.
    • Monarchs now belong to dynasties, with far reaching effects on the diplomatic model.
    • More involving and powerful Holy Roman Empire and Papacy options.
    • Special diplomatic options for Republics.
    • Set your National Focus in a province to enhance growth and strengthen your hold in the region.
    • Permanent Terra Incognita removed and replaced with impassable regions.
    • Cultural Tradition allows better advisors in the same way that Military Tradition allows better generals and admirals.
    • Spheres of Influence simulate the Great Game of the major powers.
    • More dynamic pirates. Issue letters of marque to plague the sea zones of rival nations.
    • Monarchs need to uphold their legitimacy in the eyes of their subjects
    • Many other additions and improvements.

I was hoping you would mention some thing along the lines of "monarchs now have a family tree and you can select their heir" which would lead on to a special "fight for the throne" civil war feature. Oh well, I can dream

Quite possibly my favorite Strategy game to date appears to be on the verge of getting a whole hell of a lot better. Hell, I would've been all in for an expansion if only something was done about the really annoying Pirates. Look forward to seeing what they're going to with them.

I'm fearful they'll forget about people who bought through Steam

Looks like this'll create more Royal Lines and such systems, which'll be nice. I fear this'll cause a "Hapsburg" tactic though.

They have a pretty small fanbase as it is, they can't afford to spurn the people who bought through Steam/GamersGate/any other method.

Huh, why would the expansion have a negative effect on the users who bought it through steam? I ask because a friend of mine...

more involvement in monarchies and the like. probably the only place they could go to for another expansion (considering theyve pretty much made the game as good as it can be for everything else) lol but welcome nonetheless.

Hey did you (or anyone else here) by any chance notice a change in the way PTI appears, between the original game and the NA+IN expansions??

In my game, the edges of PTI areas have gotten a lot more blocky, less smooth... anyone else experience anything similar??

I have yes. I thought something was up with my video card as I was having other issues, but it turns out I'm not the only one with this particular visual mishap.

Whilst I like the idea of PTI being replaced with Impassable Regions.

I think it should be replaced with Nearly Impassable Regions, i.e. certain level in Land tech to colonize, certain leader requirement to enter, huge defensive bonuses and low economic output.
This way places like Chaghatai I think it was, don't look like crossed pieces of spaghetti

I'm just paranoid they won't put it on Steam, that's all.
