    Default recruiting mercenaries limited?

    Tried to search, but found a similar one but not what I wanted to know.
    I am wondering if # of mercenaries(same kind of unit) I can hire is limited.
    I am playing as England(early era). Went up to Scots region and hired upto 3 same pike units.
    After that, I don't see them any more in the mercenaries hire screen.
    Also I retrained them few times after a couple battles and finally it even says that there's no more pike units left in the region and won't let me even retrain all 3 units.
    So now, I'm down to 2 fully supplied pike units. I can't even go back to having 3 units.
    Well, I guess I used every single one of them in the region??
    Is there anyway I can hire more pike units if the # is not limited?

    Mercs spawn and regenerate - it takes some time for the pool to get full again (unless some event/yearnumber disabled the mercs)
    Depending on the unit you could solve your problem by moving the army to another region as the poolsize and type is regionspecific

    Yes, there is a limit of mercenary units per region. If it is 2 and you recruit them both, it will take some time that there are more mercenaries available. If you want to make that limit higher, I can tell it you. (or that recruitment pool replenishing faster)

    So I guess I'll have to wait around and try again to see if there's more available.
    Also I'll try to move those units to somewhere else to see if I see more of them available as 'bane' mentioned.

    FinnKing, could you tell me how to make the limit higher? also how to replenish faster?
    I don't think I'll try that right now but I think it's good to know for future =)

    You cant change those limits for your current campaign - you'd have to start over. the file your looking for is descr_merceneries.txt in "imperial_campaign" and should have an explenation of the contents at the top of the file

    That's correct. Do it exactly this way (for example Scotland's mercenary pool): Go to file mentioned above, there you find this:

    Editing these numbers will affect their amount and replenishing rate; the first ones are the replenish rate and the second one is the amount of that unit on the same time:

    Make it look like this (for example):

    0.10-0.20 shows how quickly there comes more units.

    And I add this: I never have edited this so put it in a right way if I tell it wrong, but I believe it goes this way.

    It means you will get a new mercenary unit of that type every 10 turns.

    ok thx. Do you know why there are two bounds in the replenish rate? why it's not just 0.09 instead 0.03-0.15?

    Do you guys know where else I can find pikemen??
    I only know scots pikemen and the swiss pikemen.
    I guess the swiss pikemen is from alps somewhere?
    Any other you guys know, let me know please.

    Is what you love being able to hire mercs who cannot exist in the period you are playing? Then using them against factions that cannot compete against the futuristic tech?

    Not being a smart ass, just trying to understand the mod, and trying to decide if it is worth playing.

    On that issue does disbanding merceneries in their pool region replenish the pool? I've never paid attention I must admit.

    I might be wrong but I dont recall that happening. I dont think it does though.

    Mercs are available according to available technologies. You wont be able to hire gunpowder-units in 1100.
