Rolling Merc Buildup Campaign

Anyone else tried a campaign using just Mercenaries, sacking everything and moving on?

I tried it and found it was quite fun, just kept moving from province to province, taking each settlement I saw and destroying it totally then trading it to a rich faction shielding my home settlements and that I kept peace with for some decent money, then moving onto the the next region and hiring all available Merc's along the way. Then using a different General and heading in another direction with another merc army.

Not sure how it will all turn out in the long run, but it's fun in the early stages of the campaign

Never done that whole game long but I tried Norway for about 15 turns and did some Viking raids... just pillaging everything and started in Denmark and moved to Flanders, France, Spain, N Africa, Sicily and ended campaign there. Hit 1 or 2 cities each spot. Was fun and my army grown to 1.5 armies with mercenaries hired by the time arrived in Sicily.

Never really tried that before, though you have certainly given me new ideas.

This is a really cool idea and probably a fun way to try a Cuman or Norway campaign. I always had trouble working out trades with factions for territories though.
