    Default ANCIENT TOWERS 1.0

    on the wave of Roman watchtower i did in other thread, i'll start to do even the punic, greek, eastern, barbarian and egyptian one.. just to close the circle of watchtowers


    here's a primitive preview... egyptian tower (model done).. dont look at skin, i m still making it.. i m going to sleep i'll continue tomorrow

    i havent done them yet, and with warm climate is impossible to stay in front of monitor without sweating

    yes. A mastaba's easier to make than a normal tower

    I pretty much got rid of watch-towers in the current PI version, because they are annoying and cannot be demolished. I'd much rather keep the pristine consistency of the landscape, or if nothing else spoil it with unique strat-map temples and buildings.

    even if you edit txt, making the towers like the not permanent forts? i mean a small garrison in it.. when tower hasnt people inside, tower disappears automatically.. maybe can be done

    Actually it is a good idea; however there are two problems with it:

    -there is no way to modify forts Line-of-Sight
    -it isn't possible to have both the pre-placed and buildable forts in the same game. As I chose to have unique pre-placed forts with custom strat-map models (Euryalus), it will not be possible to allow building of forts as well.

    What if you use the same process of miniforts with watchtowers.. in stratmap are watchtowers but if attacked, in battle map could be viewed as a med2 small castle model..

    yea i was thinking that, as a watchtower would have a small garrison, but is it possible to increase fort line of sight? Also forts require taking, and also forts can have battles...

    Unfortunately you can't attack the watchtowers. That's part of what makes them annoying. They are eyesores on the campaign map, yet you cannot attack or remove them in any way.

    can not a watchtower be "captured" by placing an army on its tile, so that the original builder looses its line of sight?

    if so, is it not also so that a custom battlemap can be assigned to any non-settlement tile? or am i confused and that the maps for the custom battles are drawn from a x&y coordinate on the actual campaign map?

    if the first is true, could not a custom battlemap, with a modified fort(to tower) battle building model on it, be assigned to tiles with watchtowers.
    that is, if one can have pre-placed and non-buildable watchtowers.

    does this make any sense at all or am i way out of the ballpark?
