    Default Sub-Mod recommendation

Hey, I've just downloaded DLV 6.1.

So my question is, what sub-mods would you recommend me?

Well of course you must get BB! Yes I am biased but I am trying to be objective, Repman wants it for 6.2 so it can't just be me that thinks it's awesome... (link is in my sig btw)

I think Xenophonia is awesome too, perhaps even more awesome than BB. It converts many factions to using their native langauges, the files for which are imported from different language versions of the game.

Agis Tournas' unit cards improvement project is not complete but is, none-the-less, worth having. The mercenaries and many factions are done, and it helps greatly to get away from that over-familiar vanilla feeling.

Ummmm those are the minimods I have tried (that aren't already included in 6.1) that I can remember... I'm sure others will have more suggestions

    edit:

I knew I was forgetting something... here is a thread about a compilation of minimods Agis has cleverly devised. I'm sure it doesn't contain Xenophonia but it should be quite up to date for BB, the little update at the bottom of the change log, on the first page of my BB thread, will be all that's needed to bring it up to date.

    I hope that helps

And are those 3 compatible or not?

EDIT/ Oh yeah, do you have any tips for me to?
It's the first time I'm playing it.

Yeah, but I have a problem.

Every time I start up the game it gets to the colorful image and then crashes back to the desktop. (I'm using Vista)

    never ever heard of it

btw: welcome to the DLV addiction.
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.
