I mean the advanced barracks, not the armourer. At least as the Orc it doesn't seem to give me any new units or practical benefits. It is very expensive and I don't know if I should build it.
Perhaps gunpowder units in the future?![]()

Gunpower its Lord of the rings
You can build olog-hai in advanced baracks...So its pretty usefull for some factions.![]()
Even if an advanced barracks doesn't allow you to always recruit higher/new units, I believe it speeds up the rate at which you can recruit units (turns until next unit / and unit pool) afaik.
Yeah, it's faction dependent. For Rhun, the advanced barracks gives you the Loke-rim infantry and with Isengard you get Berserkers. Those are the only two I know from experience, but you could probably find all of them in the Palantir or Royal Military Academy.
I think the Orc Advanced Barracks is bugged, if you build it, it doesn't let you recruit any more of the armored halberd / soldier guys. I built it and saw my unit build list was empty of melee, had to demolish it and build the first 3 tiers of barracks all over again
Aye, I just discovered that. Serious bug! Surely some typo or oversight in descr_buildings...
I found the problem. I posted it Here.
but olog-hai are now recruitable only in mountain regions,so may be you should build the last tier barracs only in mountain settlements
well to check a unit or building´s abilities, right click on them.
as for armories... i cant really tell what they do. though i think that it has to do with the prequisite for constructing more advanced buildings.
why to upgrade barracks? so that you can upgrade your units, recruit new ones etc.
and the gun-powder question? yeah right, that made me laugh xD
