    Default Wallenstein Total War

    The Thirty Years' War

This mod aims to portray the Thirty Years' War. The campaign focuses on the duel between the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus and his wily opponent, Wallenstein (I support Wallenstein btw). It will use EarendilElenthol's Baltic map. The game begins as Gustavus Adolphus sets foot in Germany up till his deserved defeat at Lutzen, with options to continue on till 1648 and the close of the war.

Players play as individual captains. On the Imperial side: Wallenstein, Tilly and Pappenstein (three factions). Sweden: Gustavus Adolphus, Oxisternia. Unlockable factions (captains) are the Cardinal-Infante Ferdinand [Spain], Maurice of Nassau [Flanders], Cardinal Richelieu [France], Stefan Czarniecki [Poland-Lithuania] and Tartars.

The game will feature a novel approach to the campaign. Players can only recruit from their single starting city, and from (very expensive) mercenaries in the rest of the map. Other settlements provide no income at all. The starting city can be upgraded to provide more money, and there is a significant kings purse. The advantage of capturing other settlements is only for free upkeep, armour and exp upgrade buildings and to be able to build watchtowers.

In this way the game will be about manoeuvre. Players will play as captains, attempting to outmanoeuvre the opposing side's army. Players will trek across the expanse of Germany seeking a decisive engagement with the opposing stack, followed up by the taking of their home region.

The Imperial factions and Spain are allied. Sweden and Flanders are allied. Neutral factions are France and Poland, which can be swayed by either party to enter into the way on their side.

    Unique Unit Roster:
    Imperialists & Spain:

    • Jesuits
    • Papal envoy
    • Swiss pikemen
    • Tercio pikemen, musketeers, etc. (Spain)
    • Genitors

    Sweden:

    • Leather cannon
    • Blue brigade
    • Yellow brigade

    Poland-Lithuania:

    • Winged hussars
    • Heavy hussars
    • Pancerny cossack
    • Hadjucy

    Flanders:

    • Mercenary Scottish pikemen, musketeers, etc.

    France:

    • French lancers

    Mod Timeline:

    • Week 1: Completion of all non-unique faction units.
    • Week 2: Completion of all unique units
    • Week 3: Scripting and balancing.
    • Week 4: Mod release.

    Hello ,

A very good job at first, and uniforms seem to be consistent with the reality of the Thirty Years War.

Looks really good! I have one question however- why is this in the SS sub-mods section?

Count me in... Excellent period that I've been Jonesin' for some mod to do. And, on top of that, I like your take on it. Plus, I'm also a fan of the Man (ie, Wallenstein). "Boo!" to that Swedish guy.

Now be sure to add my ancestor from this war; Alexander Leslie, Scottish Field Marshal under the Swedish King, Gustavus Adolphus.

Just kidding, but I do wish you luck on this project. This is by far one of my favorite periods of the Renaissance.

I guess you'll have to edit my map quite a bit, you will miss the important France, and Bayern while having too many regions to the east. But good luck!

    Supply Chains
This mod features a different economy system. The captain (player) receives his income from the king's purse, with a few other key points around the map supplying some extra revenue. Money is tight so defeat on the battlefield is calamitous. The player can improve his financial situation by recruiting expensive baggage wagon units. These alleviate the upkeep costs of the army they accompany. On the battlefield they have a purpose. Enemy cavalry tend to prioritise pilfering of the baggage, effectively taking them out of play while the battle is won by the infantry (as in the case of the Battle of Naseby). Victory by the means can be considered pyrhhic as expense of losing a wagon unit is considerable.

Also featured is the pike carriage. These are highly useful in siege defense, breaking up cavalry charges for the accompanying elite halberdiers and musketeers to deal with.

Oh yeah: NTW is coming!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
