Default I Need Help With Computer Monitor

On one of my computers, (my new one that I use the most). I foolishly changed the refresh rate to 120 or 140, more than it supports, the monitor is old,(top of the line 7 years ago), but the computer is new. The monitor only is supposed to support a refresh rate of 85, I figured that I would see how far I could push it to possibly make it have a clearer picture with my new BF2 game. Granted, I'm no computer expert, I turned the refresh rate from 85 to 100 to 120. It started working for a few minutes and then crashed leaving a black screen with a blue box saying something like "Out Of Scan Range". Every other time I had gotten this blue box I just pushed ctrl alt del and lower the settings, but this time it didn't work. I reset the computer, pulled the plug, rebooted it and it turned on and still had the screen. I really need help, I don't want to have to buy another monitor or computer. Thanks.

maybe the monitor burned down? is there a button called "mode" on your monitor? when ever i mess up the distortion on my monitor i push this button and it restores to normal settings automatically.

No, there's only the reset button, which does nothing when I push it. The monitor is pretty old.

that's a tough one. Obviously you have set the monitors refresh rate to higher than it supports. Don't worry, you didn't fry your monitor. But, if you can't see windows at all, you DO have to figure out a way to reset it. HAHAHa. j/k. Restart Windows in safe mode. See if that works for you.
