    It's a BB thing. I think it's coming soon.

Btw: how is the game in 1340? hard? do you have a stable kingdom? etc
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

Uhm well its not that hard cause i play at normal. the only hard thing is that all the remaining factions are huge and built like a 1000 troops(if not more :S) every turn.
and my kingdom is very stable exept for a civil war thats going on atm

I make that 320 turns... the final gunpowder units should have arrived before then. I honestly do not kinow why you haven't got them already.

What I would suggest is to do a little easy editing in export_descr_buildings.txt, you'll find it in dlv_ext\data.

Open it using notepad and use ctrl+f to find the entries for the units you want. When you find them they'll look like this:

    recruit_pool "Janissary Musketeers" 0 0.5 4 0 requires factions { turks, } and event_counter malleus_maleficarum 1 and region_religion islam 60

    and this:

    recruit_pool "ME Monster Bombard" 0 0.1 1 0 requires factions { turks, } and event_counter malleus_maleficarum 1

All you need to do is delete 'and event_counter malleus_maleficarum 1' from both lines.

In fact you could probably get away with doing a 'find and replace' to remove every instance of 'and event_counter malleus_maleficarum 1' by replacing it with a space, or nothing. It might be a good idea to do this because if the event failed to fire then other factions will be unable to use the last stage of gunpowder units as well.

    Hope that helps

Judging from descr_events, the malleus_maleficarum event launches at date 306, which means the year 1486 (and so says wikipedia, too). So game-wise you shouldn't have musketeers yet, if you are still in the 14th century.

This event-dependent recruiting of bombards and musketeers is only in BB, or is it? I think new events should be made to announce their availability, like "Matchlock weapons come into use" in about 1440 and "Advanced cannons are developed" somehere after 1350s. What do you think?

If the player got a stable Kingdom by that time, then lowering the time the Gunpowder tech's comes might be a good idea. 20 -30 years or so.

You still don't have access to the units after removing that condition, did you try clicking end turn?

Well ... I now have a suspicion that my timing for gunpowder might be off somehow. In theory it should be correct but since JJN's insightful comments have sunk in, I'm caused to wonder

    edit:

Definately messed it up. I'd read a guide that implied the event date refered to turn number when that is simply not the case.

So gunpowder units are taking twice as long to arrive than they should.

I've only ever made it to the gunpowder age once. Usually long before then I either lose or get bored with the game I'm playing and start a new one.

I'm at 1315 right now and haven't seen any of gunpowder units except my own. AI don't recruit them and also there's no mercenaries units using gunpowder available.

OK I have 'fixed' it. The dates I set before were wrong and now they match roughly what I had intended. See sig link for update.
