I wonder what is it with the diplomacy, some factions do great and others...
As High Elves and Eriador, most neighbors would accept alliances, even evil ones. As high elves, the AI factions would even be the ones asking for it. I dropped alliance with the dwarves because they went to war with my other ally Eriador, as soon as the war stopped I had a dwarf knocking at my door asking for a renewal of the alliance! Also, I found it relatively easy to get ceasefires while playing as these factions.
However, as Silvan Elves, nobody wanted to ally with me. I finally got a grudging consent from the High Elves but as long as I didn't ask for a map.
Then as Orcs of Misty Mountains, nobody, absolutely nobody even the evil guys, wants to be my ally. Their answers always begin with "We do not think it is a good idea..." where you can almost be sure of failure no matter what you offer. I find it very hard to get ceasefires. Most neutrals are amenable to trade, however, and even happily exchange maps.
Are some factions more hated than others? What can be the problem?
