    What are the current factions of this mod? seems to change, and are there any updates in later versions?

    Catholic Factions
    Holy Roman Empire, Bohemia, England, Scotland, France, Castile-Leon, Aragon, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Poland, Venice, Genoa, Comuni Tuscani (Pisa), the Papacy and Sicily.

    Orthodox Factions
    Georgia, Armenia, Kievan Rus, Republic of Novgorod, Eastern Roman Empire.

    Islamic Factions
    Moors, Egypt, Sultanate of Rum, Sultanate of Syria, Seljuks

    Pagan Factions
    Kypchaks, Lithuania.

    I think that's all of them...

    Portugal is emergent. There will be unique Serbian and Bulgarian cultural units.

    Mongols are a part of the Kypchak faction.
    FYI Genoa is actually Milan

    Well there's 29 playable factions not including transitions. Giorgios pretty much nailed them on the head.

    He missed Comuni Liberi, or is that Genoa? IIRce Comuni Liberi is Florence isn't it?
    A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

    A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

    To correct my honourable overworked comrades
    Portugal is no longer emergent = playable !!!
    Comuni Toscani is set to include Florence, we are currently discussing whether Matilda Cantossa should be or not to be and that will decide Florence
    Comuni Liberi is Genoa and Milan

    Well according to wiki: 1139 is traditionally taken as the occasion when Portugal was transformed from a county into an independent kingdom.
    But that's not the point I thought portugal wasn't playable because of the faction limit so which faction is removed?

    No faction is removed, unplayable factions are still factions.

    My bad I completely forgot it was originally emergent and had the impression that it isn't included

    As form in 868 the first County under the Kingdoms of Astutias.
    As independent for 1065 to 1071 as Kingdom of Galicia and Portugal. Heny just became Count in 1093. A full realm just in 1139, after the battle of Ourique.

    Portugal is going to be playable from 1080, it will no longer be emergent. You will start only with the settlement of Coimbra and your faction leader will only be the Count of Coimbra, Sesnando Davides a Mozarab. Historically it was only after his death that Henry of Burgundy was able to assert himself as Count of Coimbra and Portugal.
    In 1080, the title Count or King of Portugal will be tied up with ownership of Porto settlement. Even if you were to declare war on Leon-Castilla and take the settlement, you wouldn't gain the title Count of Portugal until you killed the king of Leon-Castilla who currently holds the title. To gain the title King of Portugal you will need to own Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon (probably Silves too, we haven't settled on this yet).

    You will enjoy a good relationship with Leon-Castilla who are at this stage your masters, we hope we can set unique missions from them which allow the player to expand his faction through diplomatic means. Indeed, we want to allow the weak starting position of Portugal to be able to rise to County of Portugal and Kingdom through politics and will probably have some script to allow this. We also plan to allow a script that spawns the generals Robert, Hugh and Henry of Burgundy with some Frankish crusader troops in your territory as your faction rises in standing. These will be important since there will not be much of a royal family for the Portugal faction to start with.
