    Default Watt + video card

Hi, I have a quick question about installing graphics cards and i figured this was a good place to ask. I am trying to install a ATI Radeon X800 Xl into my sony vaio and it says 300 Watt or above reccommended, but my comp has 295.4 watt. would it be bad to install my new ati radeon considering my watt is too low but close, looking for fast replies thnx

Even with 300 you're really pushing it, but 5 watts won't make a differrence.

Though don't other systems in a computer take up power? Running with a too low power supply is dangerous (or so I have heard) to the lifespan of the computer. Don't know much about it though. I'm planning to buy a new video card soon too.

For a X800 you need at least a 400 watt power supply. Or any card that uses a separate power connector for that matter.

You COULD use a 350 but if you have many periphreals i would guarantee problems.
