    Default Reinforcement Bug

    Started the Achean League Campaign for the first time (and the last)
    One of my Towns was under siege ,so i sent a reinforcement nearby so it could join the battle once it started.
    However when i started the battle,everything seemed to go fine,Reinforcements message ,unit card grayed out etc, but after while i noticed the unit never entered the battlefield ,they can take orders but they wont do them.

    That's really weird..never experienced anything like it..

    Have you tried to enable the UNLIMITED_MEN_ON_BATTLEFIELD option? In theory it shouldn't fix anything, since you have already received reinforcement message and all that, but you never know...

    I don't think it had something to do with the number of soldiers,since because i had 7 units and the enemy something like 12,but ill try the option you suggested

    Indeed, it shouldn't have anything to do with that. But you never know, and I have no other idea.

    Never mind it tough got worse bugs, now my Attalid campaign keeps crashing when its almost done with processing the other factions actions (271BC) Without showing an error message

    The reinforcement bug must be RTW inherit, probably reloading a save-game would fix it. Are you running this on BI or ALX? BI is slightly less stable than ALX, so there might be a few odd crashes. It would be good if you told us at which faction's turn it crashed. The EDB Validator doesn't give any errors, so it can't be related to any recruitment bugs.

    I hope you have Patch v1.06 installed, because 1.0 had a lot of crashes.

    Cant tell which faction exactly it goes to fast to be sure but it happens when it almost done cycling through the other factions when i end the turn in 271BC


    I have 1.06 installed with just the BI.exe

    Does the message say 'reinforcements delayed'? I get that sometimes. But as Spartan has just inadvertently answered a problem for me I now know how to solve it ;D.

    In my 2 years playing RTW i have never had that message

    MemnonOfRhodes: I recently fixed a few syntax errors in the EDU; that should improve stability. It appears though that the random CTD's are caused by descr_rebel_factions.txt. Does it always crash in 261 BC? If it does crash when the faction list is almost over, (ie - It's during Rebel's turn), then it's most certainly descr_rebel_factions.txt - an error somewhere when a rebel stack is spawned. I will be sure to fix it for 1.07. Thanks for the feedback.

    @Memnon: that message usually appears when you have large armies and the option UNLIMITED_MEN_ON_BATTLEFIELD:FALSE. It's a way to prevent too many men to enter the battle, which in not-so-powerful computers results in freezing and awful lagging.

    @RedFox: what do you mean with sintax errors?

    And about descr_rebel_factions.txt..I gave a look at it some weeks ago, but it seemed fine to me, as far as rebel names in descr_regions.txt are concerned. Could it be that some units have wrong faction ownership?

    Could it help if i posted the save-game?
    Tried to see if i could narrow it down to what faction,and it is somewhere near the Getae(Gauls) when the game crashes

    It's not of much use to us, I'm afraid, because we both have v1.07 which is not compatible with 1.06. But since Spartan reinstalls RTW every day or two, he might be able to take a look at it.

    Spartan: As far as I know, the issue is something new; an unknown bug. We were testing with suppanut and he noticed that eliminating the chance of rebels to spawn removed crashes from BI. ALX is stable though.. Weird stuff.
    As for syntax errors, a few units had "requires factions { carthaginian,}", the ",}" is undetected, but can cause problems. It should be { carthaginian, }.

    But whats the big difference between Alex and BI that causes Alex to be more stable?
    Sorry for the ongoing questions,but it would be very helpful for fixing problems on my own

    ALX is v1.9 and is based on BI v1.6, it has received a lot more attention in code optimisation and bug fixing. That's what makes all the difference.

    But are the two expansion so different that we cannot use some of the Alex's changes to improve BI?
    You know get some info from the txt files or something?

    I don't if moving them really works but i mean like copying some of the scripting for example.....

    The difference isn't in the scripting, it's in the exe.
