    Default Consciousness & Credulity

    Hi all,

    My point is an "experiential" point:

    When do we draw the line consciouness wise without being credulous?

    Example: I saw a ghost in the city I live in. I've spoken to other people whose relatives live in the city I live in and saw similar things in the same locale of my city as I did.

    See, my "experience" IS real. However, where does the "experience" line stop and the B.S. line begin.

    Please discuss this without the medium of scientific measurement or mathematical measurement.

    Qualify your statements please and Thanks,
    hellas1 to infinity............wow

    You need to ask yourself what is the epistemic base of a question and from there you can decide what kind of answers you can expect. It is for me in a way clear that the study of esoteric phenomena (outside of clinical psychiatry) or a history of religion (as an isolated undertaking) or a science of genders (when it is more than an attempt to rise some funds for penniless women students), etc. can't comply the requirements of what I demand as an epistemic base (for me). These undertakings appear therefore not very fruitful (to me). It may be seen differently by others, though, because they have other requirements, what does indeed not need to bother me. They think then their things and I think mine and we do not have anything to do altogether. The line of "B.S." is our mutual disinterest.

    So, you want to know how to prevent yourself falling for BS, but you want us to give you a way that doesn't rely on the best, or maybe the only, tools for determining whether something is BS?

    Good luck on that one.

    You're welcome. I can't help you thinking. If you are looking for an ideology, read a marvel comix.

    My statement then was more of a general public kind to myself . The danger of falling in a marvel comix modes of perception does not leave out anyone.

    Lol agreed, GL
    You have a certain mentality, a "you vs them" and i know it is hard to see, but it is only your imagination which makes up enemies everywhere. I haven't professed anything but being neutral so why Do you feel the need to defend yourself from me?. Truly What are you defending? when there is nobody attacking?

    It looks like everyone is thrilled to be posting in another one of your special "don't use thus and such but answer my question" threads. Congrats.

    Once you get enough eye witness testimony, the bs line receeds more and more.

    So, without any empiricism done, all you need to do is get about 50 percent of the town to see what you saw, this should make it so that it's a definite non bs event.

    @Chriscase,

    Thanks for the support buddy. I COULD have done it without you!

    @Everyone else,

    Consciousness is a very peculiar thing.

    We are conscious, period. The question is "Who is conscious of What?"

    Qualifying the self and the content the self is "viewing" are extremely important.

    All worldviews stem from "Self qualification" and phaenomenological content.

    How do you define your self?
    How do you know that given that this world is nothing but energy patternizations, you perceive correctly?

    hellas1.....Viewing my self, by myself, in order to understand my self.....Ahh the beauty of circular reasoning or Is it?

    Yes, this thread has become the masterpiece of illumination and insight that it is, all without my help.

    Well done!

    @Chriscase,

    The point of the thread, bud, is to have readers THINK about existential questions, which should actually impact the way they think.

    Obviously, you don't care. Your posts have been nothing but derogatory.

    I don't care about your views, please stop posting.

    @Avendiel,

    Are you laughing with me or at me?

    My last post was meant to be funny in a roundabout way, btw.

    Yea. You want to "make us think" alright. That's part of the problem. Discussion is not about "making the other guy think" what you want him to think. No one wants to be manipulated, cajoled, or coerced into thinking what you want them to think. That's why I am criticizing the way you have handled this thread from the very beginning.

    If you want Discussion and Debate, you need to genuinely invite it. If you want a puppet show to play out some internal monologue you have in mind, it's no wonder so few of us want to play along. And if you want a private club just for you, I am sure you can build one in your back yard.

    By the way, I see that My Favorite Martian did give you a thoughtful answer. He even complied with your ridiculous requirements. I notice he gets virtually nothing from you in return. I suppose he didn't say what you wanted to hear either.
