    Icon5 Help With Victory Conditions

    Hello all,

I am trying to enable Venice as a playable faction; however, I am running into a problem when setting victory conditions. Here are the steps I am following to enable Venice and then to set up its victory conditions:

    Enabling Venice:
    1. Open startpos.esf in ESF Editor.
    2. Go into "main\startpos.esf\CAMPAIGN_STARTPOS\CAMPAIGN_PREOPEN_MAP_INFO".
    3. Find Venice in Player_Array and change second option in "CAMPAIGN_PLAYER_SETUP" to True.
    4. Go into "main\startpos.esf\CAMPAIGN_STARTPOS\CAMPAIGN_ENV\CAMPAIGN_SETUP\CAMPAIGN_PLAYERS_SETUP" and do the same as in step 3.

    Setting Victory Conditions:
    1. Go into "main\startpos.esf\CAMPAIGN_STARTPOS\CAMPAIGN_PREOPEN_MAP_INFO\VICTORY_CONDITION_OPTIONS".
    2. Right-click on an existing "VICTORY_CONDITION_OPTIONS" thread and choose "Clone from Disk".
    3. Change faction name for "VICTORY_CONDITION_OPTIONS" to "venice".
    4. Go into "CAMPAIGN_VICTORY_CONDITIONS\REGION_KEYS" and change the names of regions. I do this for all 4 victory conditions blocks.

Finally, I save the file, and therein is the problem. The changes I have made do not actually get saved. I get prompted that the file has unsaved changes, then I click on save again after which I am not prompted again. I load the game, but the settings are all default.

What is interesting is that just enabling Venice works without a hitch, but editing victory conditions does not get saved.

Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong here? Thanks!

It's better to turn also in true the false entries in FACTIONS_INFO (2 entries) and in FACTION_ARRAY/CAMPAIGN_PLAYER_SETUP (the middle entry) for Venice. In victory conditions make sure that your capitol region is present in every victory scenario.

About saving startpos.esf I've noticed that if you forget and save the changes after the message appears (closing the program), the changes will not be saved even you save them afterwards. So, try to remember to save before exiting.

    Thanks for the reply.

I've done as you said with the Factions Info section. My capitol region is in all victory conditions, and I do save before quitting.

What happens now is when I load the game, all victory conditions for Venice are identical to those of England. This is strange because I am copying and then editing Poland_Lithuania conditions, not England's conditions.

    Any thoughts?
