    Default Stripping down vanilla

    Hello everyone,

I was attempting to remove vanilla stuff. First everything was ok, I used the barebones folder of gigantus and the stripped down mod folder of alpaca. I "mixed" them and the mod was lauching, with the little isle at the right bottom of the map.

But when I send the mod to someone else it crashed for him. Then I saw that the mod was working with kingdoms 1.04 and not 1.05

Here is the folder : link -megaupload

The log simple tells nothing, no entries, except it had crashed.

May someone help me with that problem ?

    Thanks

Something is wrong with the events files in the data/sounds folder. Simply delete the whole folder and it will work (just without sound).
I tried my luck with placing the events files from my original barebones upload and from the other kingdoms campaigns, but it doesn't work. It migth have to do with the absolute minimum of factions and units you have got as well.

Ok, I'll try this way, I was wondering that perhaps the 1.4 patch allow less units/factions than the 1.5.

I've tried, but even without the sound files, it crashed.
    I'm on KG 1.5.
The log says only this :

Adding or removing factions is an involved process needing something of fairly advanced modding knowlede. I've added two dozen new factions to my mod, so I know it works, and furthermore that it works without even a single possible glitch, so I know this process is feasible.

That error message is extremely rare, which means that the mistake you've made was very serious and the game couldn't even come up with its normal typical error message.

the tranquility of servitude greater than
the animating contest for freedom, go
home from us in peace. We seek not
your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
down and lick the hand that feeds you,
and may posterity forget that ye were
    our countrymen."

That's an Easter Egg of mine from "Bare Kingdoms" - basically the generic error message.

I never did upgrade to 1.05, maybe I should after committing the next patch.

Don't think that would be the issue though, most if not all of those changes would be EXE changes, and the rest your mod folder will work on top of anyways. If 1.05 added a value to an important file that mods needed to add to be compatible, we'd have heard about it by now I'm sure.

1.05 is an important update, mainly for stability reasons and a few other issues. I recommend you upgrade to it for all future versions of the mod.
