"Choose from the List" issue

Hey guys, I am really new into these mod stuff. And I have been struggling for half a day which finally led me to register to this forum.

There was a particular failure, I observed in the forum, but I suppose mine is different.
That is, I followed the directions with mod-switch installation, with BI, but when the game is opened something like "pick from the list" in the campaign screen.
I re-installed, but this time, I couldn't get even there. For the updates are not match or something like that..

I think this way: The patches I downloaded cannot be compatible with the game. v1.3 seems to be displayed Control Panel/Remove Program section, but the others (1.5 for instance) do not.

And maybe the problem is due to the fact that I use a cracked version of this game..

These are my humble theories can anyone help?

Let me note at once, I really don't know anything about modding process.

Yet, I realized that even installing either v1.5 or v1.6 patches, I get back to original RTW and its version still says 1.3... So what is the problem here?
