    Default building trouble:CTD

    I run into trouble with the EDB as well.

    OLD (working) version:
    all large settlements are castles, everything works fine (range: castle, fortress, citadel)

    NEW (buggy) version:
    German settlements all work correctly when I change them (largest huge_city with 50.000 inh.)
    Rebel settlements give CTD (the usual unexpected error) while the map needs to display one, if not, it all runs fine.
    Novgorod gives CTD in same way as rebels.
    I checked, they all are in export_buildings / expanded / the descr_strat is without bugs that cause this / the edb has all the core_buildings for russia as well.

    Anyone any idea? I´ve run out of possibilities, it's just very frustrating.

    It does help to mention which mod (or version) you are talking about and what you have done.

    My own mod, running in barebones. When I change the entries in the descr_strat (and with a changed DSM, but thath shouldnt be the problem) this bug turns up in the campaign itself.

    One thought comes to mind:

    HRE = northern_european
    Russia = eastern_european
    Rebels\Slaves = southern_european

    Guess you have to change the models for all cultures, not just the northern_european

    If that doesn't help, post the changed entries.

    I changed HRE to southern_european
    Russia is still eastern_european and Rebels is southern_european
    all castles work, unto large_city (citadel), cities work unto city (stone_wall)
    Didnt edit anything in other files than xml and txt, didn't touch models

    It seems i found the answer, but I don't know yet how to solve it rightly. The problem seems to be in the faction_creator. It doesn't regocnize russian large_cities and huge_cities, although the rest isnt a problem. It doesn't recognize the whole Slave faction (errors in log) but it seems it can find all the needed models on to cities and citadels.
    How can I edit the files in such a way that russia is a valid faction_creator?

    You can't use the slave faction as faction_creator. All other factions in the descr_sm_factions file are viable.
    And you are correct: the initial model of the castle\settlement on the stratmap is determined by faction_creator. It will change if the faction that develops the next leve, has a different culture.
    The path to the different models is detailed in descr_cultures.

    There is no such thing as too much +rep for gigantus.

    "If ye love wealth greater than liberty,
    the tranquility of servitude greater than
    the animating contest for freedom, go
    home from us in peace. We seek not
    your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
    down and lick the hand that feeds you,
    and may posterity forget that ye were
    our countrymen."

    You're right, but I rep Gigantus so regularly that the forum blocks me quite often from repping him again. That did I mean with I'm repping him too much.
