Game Freezing

every once in a while my game freezes and i cant do anything then i have to restart my computer manualy because it locks up is there a way to fix this?

yes only with this game my specs are

windows xp pro
2.0ghz
512ram
Geforce Fx 5200

first of all are you using any mods?
Have you had any mods installed over another mod?
Have you made sure your computer doesn't have viruses?
When does it freeze?
During gameplay does anything else act wierd?
Are the settings you are using for graphics acceptible for you system? (i.e. having everything on high and huge unit settings)
What leads up the the freezing? (Such as sound distortion, slow rendering of the campaign map, units disappearing, ect.)
Are you overclocking your computer? If so by how much?
Are you using more power than your powersupply can give you?
