Dark Ages - no spy
Platform = Vista O/S, SV v3.3 using Launch_SicilianVespers_05162009.zip as launch exe.
Playing Dark Ages as Holy Roman Empire (Regnum Orientis). Set campaign=VH / battles = VH.
@ 880AD. Have built several brothels but none allow recruiting spies.
Can successfully recruit diplomats and priests from their appropriate buildings.
Is there additional tech required to recruit spies in this mod? The single spy I started with died during a mission already. Would like to know how to replace him and build tech for assassins. Thanks for any help.
Great mod!

Re: Dark Ages - no spy
Build gallows then a dungeon and you should be able to hire spies.

Re: Dark Ages - no spy
In my current DA campaign (Beneventum), Spies appear to require Inns for recruitment. I'd imagine the same holds true for the other factions. Have not gained capability to recruit assassins yet (I'm at ~910AD).

Re: Dark Ages - no spy
I think recruitment is different from faction to faction. Check the building browser to see exactly which buildings provide the desired agent.
@Hauptman, I checked your campaign and spies and assassins are from the dungeon. at least in the first settlement I checked.
Edit: Recruitment is different from settlement to settlement. In darkage with "HRE" Bremen has spies in the Inn, Strassburg has spies in the dungeon.

Re: Dark Ages - no spy
well spies to me seem this way , regions are divided in 2 groups, group one recruits from inn and group 2 from dungeons
PS. not 100% sure but i got pretty many settlements in dark age using byzantines and russia and those seem the only 2 places

Re: Dark Ages - no spy
Thank you, everyone! Good advise all. I checked and found that Spies do recruit differently in this mod than in Vanilla.
What's really cool is that they also recruit differently between settlements as well. Not all settlements provide them and some settlement requirements differ. This makes settlements more distinct; a nice touch.
Generally, it seems that spies recruit as follows:
1) Urban settlements require INN or even TAVERN but not all urban settlements let you recruit them.
2) Military settlements require DUNGEON but not all military settlements allow recruiting spies even when you have a dungeon.
It pays to check each settlement's building browser as you plan faction economies.
Thanks for all the help. Good luck & Good gaming!
