I remember reading on the wiki that you can educate generals for 4 turns after they come of age. How is this done? Do I just place them in a settlement that fits the requirement for the education or do I have to activate something?

if you want a general put the youth in a castle
if you want a priest put him in a town with a church
keep him i your capital city to train him as a governor
you don't have to activate anything just end turn in the appropriate settlement

I've just recently started a game as Venice, they start with a 14 year old son of the Chancellor. Are youngsters automatically trained, because after playing for a bit, he's now 19, but still he hasn't become playable.
