    Default Limited amount of forts?

    The permanent stone forts are cool and all, but I have never liked them being "that permanent". For me, if they remained 5-10 turns without garrison would be enough.

    The real bugger for me though, is that there is a limit on them. I admit, I have built loads(playing alot of hotseats does strange things to your mind) and they really help slow/halt enemy attacks. But now, ~100 turns in, I can no longer build any. And that SUCKS. Is there anyway to edit the files to either make the forts less permanent or remove the limit?

    PS: I know there is no such thing as "more or less permanent", but you get the idea.

    Please can somebody upload permanent stone forts mod, i cant find it anywhere and link in its own section doesnt work anymore.

    I got it with SS 6.2. I'm not sure it's a limit though, might be something with the patch itself since I reinstalled all SS patches today. Sucks either way.

    I have 6.1 and do not want SS 6.2, but iwant stone forts, so far i have only wooden gay ones.

    how many have you build to reach that limit?

    check your descr_campaign_db.xml in your SS6 data folder
    <destroy_empty_forts bool="true"/>
    <can_build_forts bool="true"/>

    Oh, thanks bane!! Those lines had somehow changed to "false" during my re-patch, and changing them to "true" solved the problem! Turns out there is no limit, just tricky files to handle.

    I guess that if you have the line <destroy_empty_forts_bool="false"/> they should remain. Read bane_tw's post above for the file, can't be arsed typing it.

    I can't edit the XML, so what do I do? (I know that I'm a total noob at this )

    Yep with "false" the forts remain even if you leave no units to defend but everyone can march in and take over.

    Dont know how to make them disapear after more then one turn and to be honest my guess is that the engine simply checks if a fort has units in it and if not destroys it without using a counddown (4 turns to self-destruct......). Maybe best to check the mod tutorial section for more info or confirmation

    open it with notepad / editor in windows -> programs -> acessories -> editor.
    the txt-file opener thing.
