Sometimes even finding a unit is difficult, especially if it has only a few men left, you see the icon in the minimap but can't find it because the sprites are hard to locate.
Regarding the flagbearer, first the flag is too small and second, he is usually among the first to fall and then no flag.
Some say that the "feel" is more "authentic" without banners. However all armies of antiquity carried banners up to the American Civil War and the reason was the same: Allowing commanders to identify units during battle. LOTR is a fantasy story and like most of these, it has a medieval setting. If you see the movie, the armies carry banners!
I find it strange that no one has made a banners submod, since the shields of each factions already exist it shouldn't be so difficult. Unfortunately I'm not very good at the graphics part of modding. Banners could be an optional (i.e. default without banners and if you want banners, install this little submod...).
I'm considering turning banners on, even if the factions will have flags from Medieval Europe, if only for the sake of playability.
