One of my favorite techniques in vanilla was turtling, building a couple of very nice advanced stacks, then sacking and destroying the enemy cities and leaving them to revolt on vh tax rate, causing a rebel army to spawn
Reasons for this were to to not have to worry about garrisoning it, thereby reducing my conquering army, and also making it hard for the enemy to retake that city due to the rebel army. I could then follow along at a later time and take those cities from the rebels once my conquering armies had pushed the battle front far enough forward
But in TATW, at least so far, when I sack a city and leave it on high tax, it reverts to the original faction control rather than rebel control. This is partly ok, because I can leave a single unit there and leave and resack it till it has a population of 400 and makes it pretty much a village with huge walls, but I would still prefer a rebel army to spawn there
Can anyone confirm if rebels do take over settlements after revolts in TATW?
