    Default Size of towns/cities

    Is there any way of changing the population requirement for towns and cities? I want to raise it about 30% so that it takes longer to upgrade.

    The levels are in SS\data\descr_settlement_mechanics.xml. They are at the bottom of the file.

    And remember that if you want a castle to be upgraded at population 8000 and a fortress at 13000, you must make it look like this:

    <level name="castle" base="2500" upgrade="8000" min="500" max="12000"/>
    <level name="fortress" base="8000" upgrade="13000" min="500" max="25000"/>

    And the same with other city/castle upgrades. And open that file most likely with NotePad or WordPad.

    And make a copy of the original file before you start editing in case you make a mistake!

    Fortunately it's very hard to make a bad mistake while editing that file, compared to EDU or EDB or something. Mistake made when editing descr_settlement_mechanics should be easily put right (if no other things are edited than population levels).

    Yeah it's probably not going to cause a CTD.

    I would still make a copy of any file I was going to edit, it's the first rule of modding IMO. It also helps if sometime afterwards you need to remember what files you edited and what changes you made.

    I have copied whole mod to my PC/D:/Games directory so I always have copies of all files of the mod.
