    Default HOI 3 tech stuff

    HOI 3 technical question.

I've been looking to buy HOI off Steam, and in the system requirements about the processor it says:
Intel Pentium IV 2.4 GHz or AMD 3500+ (quad core)

When I managed to find out what my own processor was it said:
    AMD Phenom 8450, Triple-Core Processor, 2,11 GHz.

The above might as well be in Swahili, because I have no idea wtf it means. But what matters is, can I run the game on the processor I have?
I've checked out the other parts and it should be ok if it follows a logical path of "bigger numbers = you can run more".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Good idea.

    *goes googling*

    EDIT.
I found one for the Ardennes, but it looks like it's not so good an idea after all, turns out the demo has a lot of lower requirements. Or is RAM requirements and such unrelated to the processor?

You have a better processor then I have. And I can play the game. It does run slow. But it runs.

the question atm with this game is not 'can i run it?' its more of 'can i run it better than he can?' the game is really slow and laggy right now (for what i believe is memory leaks) Your rig should be just fine though. I also reccomend turning your virtual memory to 'No page filing' to help with preformance by about 30-40%

you do this by going into(if you have XP but should be very similiar on other OS)

control panel->system-Advanced-Preformance settings-> advanced-virtual memory-change it to 'no page filing' you will see the option.

curious to know your other system specs though also? RAM? GFX card? etc..
    You look great today.

Yeah, it's pretty laggy and slow on that demo. I'll try that trick there and see how it goes. Does it influence other stuff as well?

Heh, that reminds me of when I had to call a tech support hotline at work.
"Can you describe your pc, Ma'am"
"uuuhhh, errrr, yeah sure, it's, errr, grey, with two small shining lights on the front panel."

Anyways, I did some digging (read: found the "manual")
    Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 9600GSO
Ram: 4 gigabyte. (How weird, I could have sworn it said 3 GB next to that processor info I managed to find on the pc *checks again* Yep, it does. wtf?!)

oh well if it has those two small shining lights on the front panel you are good to go

but your PC seems like it could run it aslong as you do the no page filing, but test it out on the demo first to see how much it has improved preformance before you get the game, my game is still a bit slow but i tend to keep the speed at about 2-3

no page filing does affect other programs aswell but whether it helps or not really depends if the program has a memory leak or not.

I am drunk as . But...Alkarin in another thread I do recall you saying turning off page file would save 10-20% now its 30-40%

Man! Give me more beer! The more beer the better the game runs!

It won't work on Hearts of Iron atm, but this is what I use Visna, I'm about as specs illiterate as you are
