    I have an idea for the white counsel.

    According to the lore:
    The White Council is comprised of Wizards and Elves. The known members of the White Council are
    Saruman, Gandalf, Galadriel, Elrond, and Cirdan.
    The last meeting of the counsel was 2953. The starting date is 2956. So it would be still possible that one of the members would call a counsel. Every member had the chance to do so.

    My idea:
    Therefore it could be a scripted coalition between Isengard, High Elves and Silvian Elves. This should not be an alliance but something scripted, like the HRE in the HRR-mod for MTW.

    1) If one of this fractions would attack an other good faction (e.g. Isengard->Rohan) every member would get the message that the white counsel doesn't exist any more.

    2) Every member could call a counsel. The effect could be that their relationship becomes very much better, that the person who call the counsel together would get the trait "leader of the white counsel" and that the two other sides get money (e.g. +1000 each) while the player loses money (e.g. -2000).

    3) If Saruman (therefore Isengard) calls a white counsel he betrays Sauron, which means that he is "excomunicated" by Sauron. As return Saruman whould become allied with the elves and Rohan, and in war with all bad factions.
    This would mean, that the player could decited playing as Isengard whether he would like to be nearly good or totally bad.

    4) If Isengard attacks an good fraction, all Elves should also declare automatically war on him.

    Advantage to gameplay:

    1) Isengard would be an many-sided faction but would be different to other bad fractions like Mordor, Rhun or Harad.

    2) A game in which the player isn't Isengard wouldn't differ from the play at the moment, because elves can't avoid that Isengard attacks Rohan. And afterwards the white counsel wouldn't exist any more.

    3) Some additional messages and oportunities whould bring more deep in the lore background that is shown.

    4) The player would have the chance to choice between the good or the bad sites while the computer-Isengard would always decide for the bad sites. This would be lore correct.


    What do you think of this idea?

    Not bad ... but a complicated whatsoever idea... I think it requires lot of work for something that isn't that much vital ...

    It's a pretty good idea. And Isengard could change to another religion if he betrays sauron

    Yeah but what happens to Isenguards units if the faction joins the good side? I mean you can't expect ORCS to be on the good side, well at least I wouldn't think so anyway. Besides, if he suddenly switched sides with all the Sauron obsessed followers all over the place I doubt that they'd agree with it/start helping the good side. It's a cool idea but I think it would be too much hassle if it meant that a new set of units had to be designed...

    Isengard could get Eriador units. And possibly some rohan units.

    Isengard on the good side is out of the question.
    There have been discussions before and even though the community came up with a pretty solid plan (that would feel unique etc) the team just wouldn't even want to think about it. Not going to happen.
    Although, they did say that about Ents aswell. And look what we just received

    Isenguard would become like SPQR in RTW - pointless, just leads the Roman factions and does not attack

    I'm not really understanding you. I don't want to make Isengard something like the papal state or something equal. I would only like the possibility for the player to vote whether he would like to be good or bad. And in my oppinion this possibility to choice could be connected with a "white councel"-feature.

    I'm saying that if Isengard stopped being Evil, they could do nothing! No more armies to fight with! No Uruks if they are Good!

    Why not? The Uruks are retarded, they only want food and to fight...kinda like Vikings. In my first campaign I was Isengard(not saying being good),I destroyed Rohan and kept Gondor alive by retaking Minas Tirith from Mordor and kept it till i capture both Osgilaiths and Cair Andros. Uruks are beast against practicly everything. There pikemen are only good @ defending a settlement. Their warriors can demolish the puney orcs until they get olog-hai then mordor wins(kinda)! anyway like in the movie Gandalf was telling Saruman that Sauron would not share power. If Isengard capturd the One Ring they could turn on Mordor. I had befriended the OoMm because they were massing gigantic armies from no where! Isengard doesnt have to be fully good(or @ all) but can turn on mordor and destroy em! Then all the Evil factions would bow to there will. TaDa, there you go...lil steps: Isengard capture-one ring, destroy rohan(anyone else in your way),turn on mordor,destroy mordor. then Do whatever since mordor can strike pretty much everywhere except the north west.

    I realy like your ideas. However, why couldn't it be alliance based, where also Gondor or Rohan or Dwarves could have a choice to join White Council as an ally? I know that's not Lore, but lore stops when game starts. Then thereafter possibly use Jihad to call invasions, etc... Is that in the plan?

    Then.. Bring up an solution to the culture problem.

    Maybe, maybe, maybe you could do it with an of event scripting. Though i won`t think that with such scripts it`s possible to let factions act like during an crusade.

    Change Culture title and have

    Free Peoples
    Versus
    Corrupted Races

    Then we have Christian as Free Peoples and Islam as Corrupted Races. Papency becomes the White counsel

    Isengard becomes Lithuania.

    They start out pagan. Give them some 'good' units or something.

    If they go catholic (followers of melkor) they get their uruks, just like Lithuania got different units in the Kingdoms Campaign.

    And then have that league or whatever the Christian nations have during the same campaign.
    Well, I'm back again.

    It's a good idea but seems to me to be too hard to implement, though would make an interesting and good submod
