Default The Role of the Papal States

When I first started up Third Age: Total War I was awed by the campaign map but as I explored my chosen faction (Mordor) I was dissapointed at two things:

    - No trolls for countless turns (which is not the discussion)

    - No SAURON as faction leader, Evil had the papal states

I still love it but recently I noticed someone's suggestion of a White Counsel to rival the Dark Lord of Mordor and I decided to post this thread.

Would Sauron be better off as the Leader of Mordor with Jihads as Evil's crusades and the White Counsel take over as Goods crusades.

it is not just the crusades but also the faction role of the Papal States.

I hope this is clear and isn't already discusses. Its easy to miss such threads.

I reakon the way it works in divide and conquer is good for evil but it would be nice to have a white council for good

I must say I am surprised at the people who don't want good crusades, why not?

Sauron was to weak to actual persanly lead Mordors Armys so he would remain Barad Dur. I dont know what the White counsel is (never read books)so I cant give a good opinion on that.

WHAT? Did you skip the introduction to The Fellowship of the Ring???????????

Who does not want Sauron, complete with mace swinging action?

Perhaps he could spawn when Mordor gets the Ring!

That was a long time ago and Sauron had his ring. If Mordor gets the ring then sure that makes alot of sence but otherwise not likely.

Because Jihads and Crusades require all factions that are to participate to be of the same culture.

    Catholic=Crusade
    Islamic=Jihad

    or

    Followers of Melkor=Invasion
    ???=White Counsel

And as the above part shows what would you name the new, unified culture? And how would you justify it considering Dunedain were worlds different from Northmen who were worlds different fron Druadain who were worlds different from Numenoreans who were worlds different from Dunlandings who were worlds different from Black Numenoreans who were worlds different from Edain who were worlds different from Elves who were worlds different from Dwarves who were worlds different from Hobbits who were worlds different from Orcs in both culture and mindset. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!

but sauron was weaken and was never as strong as he once was. when i first played as mordor i was supised that sauron was not they faction leader either but then i thought how could he. if u like peter jackson movies as sauron being the all seeing eye sauron then could not be a character and if u dont then modor would not have a capital.

Yes, he is weak. Without his ring of course. Thats mainly the reason why he wants it back to he can regain his lost power and lead the armies of evil once more.

If it is possible to make multiple types of Jihad, then Dwarves could get a "Reconquer the Mountains", Rohan a "Ride of the Éored", SE a "Reclaim the Woods", HE shouldn't get anything as they're leaving ME.
Gondor could get "Expedition", and be able to hire mercenary Pelargir Marines in Gondor, as it states that Pelargir was where most of Gondors expeditions started. Dale maybe "Claim a trade route" (yeah I know the name sucks). And Eriador could get.... well nothing as they suck incredibly and they didn't even wage war according to lore, the rangers protected eriador from orcs, goblins, etc. and the people of eriador just sat there growing fat.

i think denethor and the gondor don't really care about the white counsil.
Imagine the white counsil who said to denethor:
"we must help the dwarves and taking back the moria!"
    denethor answer:
"you want i send 2000 men to help little angry men? I don't care about you ing magician, go out to my city or i will kill you all!"

So, seriously, i don't think the white counsil has the sufficient authorithy to convince all good faction to go at war.

After i still think that the good faction should have djihad and not crusade. During the history, djihad was much more used in defensive case than crusade. Is there ever been an djihad on paris? NO! Is there ever been a crusade on jerusalem? YES!
But in all case, the culture system not allwing good faction to do such things so...

No it's fine as it is, because I don't want it to be possible to recruit elves in newly captured gondor settlements,
and dwarves in the middle of eriador etc.

    More then you think.

Religion => Culture, in this mod.
And a certain percentage of culture is needed to recruit different units.

I guess you want everyone to be of the same race..

@Warmaster Tibs: Look at the picture and think "Religion = Culture", it's not possible to have both this function and the white council.
