I was wondering if any of you guys used MSN messenger? I've been pestered by some guys outside the team into setting one up (I've never been partial to internet messaging services really) so I thought I might as well tell you guys incase for some reason you wanted to chat with me about wonderful traits and ancillaries. Or anything else really.

I just don't like all the crap MSN wants to put on my PC just for the 'pleasure' of using it.

I haven't noticed any crap. If there is some (please enlighten me) I'm gonna remove it immediately.

Sorry...should've explained that better. These chat programs annoy me. I've had so many fights with spyware and malware that came thru these gadgets that I just don't want the bother of them. I run a very 'tight' PC with a specialized Windows install that Microsoft NEVER touches, and it is bullet proof against spyware, malware and viruses. And yet...as bullet proof as I can make it, the only malware I've ever seen get thru my defenses came thru AOL IM and my bloody e-mail, even! Guess I'm a little paronoid about that.....used to spend weeks on the job cleaning the junk up off people's PC's.

I do not ( IM ) either...I remember how livid I was when my kid put ICQ on the computer...had to blow the system away to get rid of it.

Right now I use - Malwarebytes' - AVG Internet Security 3-pack - Zone Alarm Firewall and the Zone Alarm Forcefield. My e-mails are scanned, my downloads are scanned and I'm warned of malicious sites beforehand. However the nasties are getting smarter.

Yeah I nether trust Microsoft ether. Thats why I use a Mac.
Though I must say that Windows 7 is a huge improvement over Vista.

Well, in Microsofts defence, it's not really their fault. It's not so much a matter of trusting them as it is a matter of Windows being the most common OS so hackers and virus makers target it.
