The 1.2 patch change log looked great, so I decided to give the Dwarfs a go. The strangest thing keeps happening: in every campaign I play with them, corruption goes through the roof! Here is a screenshot of my 3rd attempt with the Dwarfs:
And here's the situation:
- In every territory I own, every building that adds to law has been constructed. The only exception being Erebor, since the top-end buildings are too expensive.
- I have exactly one Inn, in Kugavod. I always demolish Inn type buildings in cities I conquer.
- Family members that have corrupt-ish traits do not govern my cities, they are placed in my armies. Same goes for generals. All other (thus non-corrupt) characters have been placed in cities.
- There are basic roads connecting all my territories.
And still I was losing massive amounts of gold to corruption every turn! By coincidence I found out that tearing down trade buildings (markets, ports) lowered my corruption. Better yet, the loss in trade from destroying them was in every case less than the loss in corruption ... which makes the destruction of trade profitable!
Just to be sure, I made peace with Rhun and disbanded every single army unit, save free city upkeep units. I have exactly one stack remaining in the field, lead by my generals-and-family-members-with-weak-or-dangerous-traits. It's currently in the north of the MM, grinding it's way to Goblin Town.
Hence, after demolishing my trade and armies I now find myself making a nice profit.
But there is still over 8000 gold corruption remaining!
Every single settlement I own (save Erebor, being the capital) has between 480 and 970 corruption per turn, according to the settlement details.
Can anybody help me? What in the world could be causing it?
(Solutions that did not work:
- Putting the faction leader or heir in the capital city
- Making another settlement the capitol city
- Breaking all bonds with allied factions
- Demolishing all Dwarven breweries)
I'm playing VH/VH, TATW1.2, no sub-mods, but with the evil-factions-can-die bugfix.
