    Default Making NPFs playable

I am planning to mod my game so that every non-playable faction (Ireland, Papal States, Rebels, whatever else there may be) is playable, but i don't know how to do this. What file do i need to access to make them playable and to give them more territory than they have?

P.S. this will be my first mod

you have to edit the descr_strat file.

Here is the file location: C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

Simply open the file, and copy and paste the faction names into the playable catergory.
    Well, I'm back again.

You will have to work with the descr_strat file in the maps\campaign\imperial_campaign folder
In there move all factions except papal_states, aztecs, slave, timurids and mongols in the part where england is.
    That will make them playable.
Giving those factions more territory is a bit more complicated. It involves moving settlements in this file from one faction to another and giving them a different garrison. I would suggest to have a look at a view tutorials here, especially text editing and scripting.

Thank you for all the advice, but when i try to save the file, it says that the file is a read only and that i have to save it with a different name

Right click the file, then click properties. Uncheck the "read only" box. You can then save over the file.

Be sure to make a backup incase you mess something up.

    Good luck.
    Well, I'm back again.

Yu will also need to make entries in the campaign_descriptions in data/text for the newly made playable factions or the faction selection screen will cause CTD when you select the faction.
