How do I remove Sarmatia from the game ?

Can it be done ? I'm not a modder and my knowledge is extremely limited so if its a complex thing to do I probably won't be able to do it but I'll have a go!

I'm sick of having good campaigns ruined by horse archers, I can't be bothered chasing them around battlegrounds every single turn.

It should be much easier to adjust their stats in the EDU. Or simply autoresolve the battles on max. "hard" campaign difficulty, while using phalanx armies? Well, can´t help you with your question, though, sorry.

To remove them as a faction would take deleting a whole bunch of stuff from descr_strat.txt If you want to defeat light cavalry, you'll need some of your own. Or you could use siege workshop machines which can outrange the light cavalry. Very unrealistic but effective

I can beat them with Romans or with Greeks but they become a much bigger problem when I play as the Germans who don't have super high defences. How do I make them super weak ? Maybe then the Bactrians will take care of them. Or if I can make them dirt poor so they have no money to expand!

The Bactrians? I wouldn't count on it too much since there are landblocks made to prevent exactly this

Which gives me an idea -- why not draw a line of impassability around the Sarmatians so that they can never get into contact with you? Go to your \ExRM\Data\world\maps\base dir and open map_ground_types.tga. See that vertical line in Africa? Use the color picker to get the same color and draw such a line around All Sarmatian territories.

The drawback -- it will probably invalidate your savegames.

Are you sure you want to spoil your game like that? Maybe experiment some tactics against the Sarmatians? I can't offer much advice since I have not played seriously with the Germans.

There's a gap in the landblock between Bactria and Sarmatia, I just started a Sarmatian campaign and got attacked by Bactria on the 2nd turn.

I think I'd rather nerf them to the point of being completely harmless, how do I do that ?

Open \ExRM\Data\export_descr_unit.txt Search for "sarmatian" You should find sarmatian cavalry units at lines 3021, 6727, 6754, 6781, 6916, 6943, 10371, 10398, 11659. If there are any sarmatian cavalry units that don't contain the word "sarmatian", I don't know about them. Use the beginning of the same file for explanation what the various parameters mean. You can lower their damage values from this file so they can't hurt your units. You could also lower their hitpoints.

Edit: make sure you backup your export_descr_unit.txt before doing any changes

If I do it to the merc and aor units too obviously that's going to affect me when I try to recruit in Sarmatian land ?

Where are their foot archers found in the file ?

Splendid, I watched their financial ranking plummet in one turn so now they can't recruit anymore the Germans should be able to take back their land (on a previous Roman campaign now). Thanks for the help Antonov, rep added.
