    Default What i'm doing wrong?.

    I just Edit units stats ( Elf's archers are much stronger in range fight but i weaken them in hand to hand combat -but elven warriors are now much stronger than before,trolls are weaken,Dwarfs have lesser atack but more armor and more more more to little balance game-i'm playing oomm and i haved to less of fun with normal settings;p) and i wanted to add some units from one faction to other ( from mordor ,isengard to oom and from oom to mordor ,isengard itp).

    But i'm getting crush when i want to start the game -can some1 tell me what i'm doing wrong?.

    Does your log file say anything useful? And have you edited the battle_models file to add the appropriate ownerships to the appropriate units (and don't forget to change the unit count)?

    OK, first download this file and download Python from here. Then install Python, before backing up your battle_models file somewhere safe. Then extract the contents of the first download to the same folder as battle_models (C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age\data\unit_models) remembering to back it up first. Run the "formatmodeldbfile" script and it should give you a file called formatted_battle_models. Rename this to "battle_models". I'm too bored to post any more now but reply when you've got that far and I'll get back to you.

    That file can be very wily, this might still end up with one big crash at the end. Anyway, basically you now need to add an entry for the faction you want to add each new unit to under the entry for each added unit - sounds a bit confusing I know. I'll use the Morannon guard as an example. First find its entry in the battle_models file (open with notepad) by searching (ctrl+f) for its name (the code name (morannon_guard) not ingame name (morannon guard)). The entry for that unit starts at the name (which will have a number in front of it) and ends at the "termination delimiter", which will be the numbers "16 -0.090000004 0 0 -0.34999999 0.80000001 0.60000002". Go here for a more in-depth description of that file, courtesy of KnightErrant.

    So the entry for the unit looks like this:

    What we've done here, step by step, is as follows:

    --Change the faction count. You'll notice that "1" changes to "2" on two occasions. This is because we now have two factions with entries under this unit (we added hre/OOTMM).

    --Add textures for the new units. These are the same as the old ones, but they still need an entry (this is used in M2TW to have different colours for different factions). To do this we added the name of the faction we wanted to add the units to (hre) proceeded by the string count for the line (three, because hre is three letters), with a space between the faction name and the count.

    This also needs to be done for the upgrades of that unit, hence:

    Repeat this process for all the other units you want to add to new factions, each time adding a new entry for the new faction, remembering to change the faction count (the red 1 to 2) and copy the textures under the correct faction names (e.g. if you were adding the guard to Isengard instead of OOTMM, you would use "5 france" instead of "3 hre"). If you are adding units to more than one new faction, for instance to two new factions, change the faction count accordingly, (e.g. "3" to replace the highlighted "1".

    Sorry if that is confusing, and yes it is a long and laborious process. I'm not joking when I say I'm almost certain it won't work after all that, but you will be a lot closer to your goal, and then you can post back here and we'll eliminate the next problem. The link you posted earlier, and the ones I gave, will also help explain this to you, but they can be very confusing to new modders (to be fair I am also very new at this). I tried to make this fairly clear, if there's anything that you didn't get, post again. Also, +rep me if it helped. Now I need another cup of tea I think .

    ofc i woud giwe u rep point but i can't ;/ i'm registered only 2 days so u need wait 5 days more xD.

    It's really hard i will study it at night...maiby 4 you it's easy but it's hard for nowble in things like that to do it alone ^^ .

    Maiby u coud (or some one else who have Good skills and a little bit of time) share units? i think that woud be great :

    Mordor gives Orc_Band to OOMM.
    Isengard gives Berserkers for MORDOR and Uruk-Hai Infantry for both MORDOR and OOMM and Uruk-Hai Crossbow for MORDOR .

    Oomm Gives cave_trolls to ISENGARD and Moria_orcs to MORDOR.

    i woud build a shrine for you if you woud do this .

    You're lucky I like helping people , I would tell you to go and work it out yourself but that would be mean, especially as all the guides are in English. I edited the "battle_models" file accordingly, but there may still be changes needed in your EDU file, as the ownerships listed there must match the ownerships in the modeldb file. If it doesn't work yet, post back, including the log file contents, and we'll move on to that. You'll need to extract the file to "C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age\data\unit_models", overwriting the old one (back it up first).
